We clearly watched a different video. I saw side steps, fade aways, fast break dunks, spot up threes, spot up two's, back to the basket moves, one legged fade aways, even a couple hook shots, and a lots of pull up shots. He's obviously a very gifted, versatile scorer already.

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk :o

Might be worth it to have him come over just to hear the announcers try to say his name 20 times a game.

of course Spain won the tournament :P

That's not too great efficiency to put it mildly, somewhat tempers my excitement. Although, i can imagine Ukraine fielded some truly bad teams in those youth competitions. They are low-tier in Europe on every level i think.

The form on his jumper is beautiful. He is probably the top 16 year old in the world including the US. I'm buying into the hype.

Yep, that's definitely a flaw, especially considering he looks like a good attacker, athletic, and has a good mid range jumper by every indication. He probably has to carry his teammates a lot though. Again, Ukraine doesn't have a great track record in basketball, and judging by some of the scores during the video, they are probably not a great team.

The amount of ignorance regarding this kid's name in this thread is staggering.

I'd bet efficiency took a hit because he had to carry his team like crazy. He was forced to be a ball hog to make Ukraine competitive and he still did quite well. It kind of parallels with Rudy Gay decreasing his efficiency because no one on the Raps is as good of an offensive option.

What's amazing is that he is top 5 in so many different categories. Being #1 at steals is very impressive for a 6-6 guy.

Problem solved.

He's got a great looking jumper and an athletic body to boot. He's definitely someone to watch down the road. Some things he'll need to improve on are: strength, ball handling, and attacking the rim with a defender on him.

Right now, he could easily fall in love with his jumper a la Calderon, and forget to develop his attacking game.

Ok, this is no longer funny... You just being an a-hole. I found his name to be quite ordinary for an Ukrainian, and its not hard to pronounce, doesn't take a genius. It's translated to latin purely for people like us.

High usage and a lot of 3s is normal for a junior superstar. That justifies his sub par efficiency as well. He looks more like Gallinari to me. Guy should end up at 6'8 range at least. Very impressive.

You mean Yusta?

BTW the most hyped spanish player of this generation, Jonathan Barreiro, didn't play this tournament due to injury. He's Yusta's teammate in Real Madrid 2nd team. You can watch all their games (at least for now) in the youtube channel of the spanish federation.

Found out he's playing for Cherkassy and had 16 points in his first game in the Ukrainian league. But he only has had a few points in his most recent couple of games.
