I think Beasly adds nothing for them in terms of off ball ability. He isn't an off the ball player IMO, which is kind of what you need with LBJ and Wade. I think Beas was brought in though to shoulder more scoring load cause the organization thinks Wade will continue to decline a bit and won't be as reliable throughout a full season. I think Oden will pretty much be Kwame Brown for them. Which is actually an upgrade over Joel Anthony.

DCZ, I think he's bipolar and self-medicates, which is the central reason he's been an out-of-control pothead.

I can speak to the first thing I suspect, but not the pothead part.

I agree with you on the rehab, but I think maybe cognitive behavioral therapy should be a HUGE part of his treatment. That and any combo of eastern medicine, massage, acupuncture, etc. that's legally and morally permitted should be the way they try and redirect Beasley.

The guy is only 24 and he's hardware-wired to be a baller. Beasley just needs to get reprogrammed so he can process like a baller and compete at a high level in the NBA.

One deal breaker might be if he's developing some kind of schizophrenia where he's no longer adequately in touch with reality, and they can't bring the young man back to stay. In that case Beasley is done.

Problem with Beasley is he doesn't know how to play. He's got a ton of bad habits that will be tough to break. I'm not sure he can get reprogrammed to play the right way. Plus he's in the wrong city to make some type of life changes for the better. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets cut by Miami at some point this year.

No this is not from The Onion.
In an interview with NBA.com, Nuggets center JaVale McGee said that he thinks the Nuggets and new coach Brian Shaw are going to want him to use his jumper more next season.

Edit: I don't know if this ^ is going to work, but CCJ wrote long-ago that the Wizards should encourage the development of JM's jumper when he was here.

Mid range jumpers from Javale would be one of the least efficient shots possible in Denver. I would bet we see an inverse correlation between number of jumpers taken by Javale in the first quarter and playing time in the 2nd-4th.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Last season, McGee shot .352 on shots from beyond 3 feet; .286 on shots designated in the play-by-play as jumpers. Denver should DEFINITELY have McGee shoot lots more jumpers -- especially when they play the Wizards.

I'm guessing Shaw, trying to play to McGee's ego, talked about trying to get him to work on his jumper and improve his game to expand upon his strengths, however passing through the McGee filter, it came out to Javale that his talents were finally being recognized and he should shoot more. Does this mean fantasy basketball players should be happy they drafted JJ Hickson? Probably.

Beasley was a 20/8 per 36 mins player when he last played with the Heat as a rookie. Riley already knows him. Spoelstra will probably reach him. Playing with Wade and James will push him past his weirdness in becoming a good to great player IMO.

Between Beasley and Oden the potential is there for Miami to win over 70 games if both Beasley and Oden bounce back.

I hope you are right about Beasley, ccj. I'd love to see the DC area kid get his act together and I think being surrounded by vets like Wade, Lebron and Ray Allen might help him do that.

However, Beasley's problem is not his "weirdness." His problem is that he's a pothead. I think rehab should be Beasley's first stop...and I'm guessing that the Heat are also pushing him in that direction.

Chris Anderson turned it around. Stll on the court, Beasley's problems stem from shot selection and inability to play defense. I also hope he turns it around but I have to say I would be surprised if he does and makes a major impact.

I'm guessing it was Javale's mother and not Shaw who suggested to McGee that he shoot more jumpers.

There is a good chance that every time JaVale's name pops up in the news, it's for something comical. He is such a clown and I'm so glad he's gone.

To me JaVale personifies one of the most embarrassing eras in franchise history. Sad that I have to specify "one of" to be accurate. Of course we couldn't just be terrible but in obscurity.

LOL -- I've been wondering how Pam handles JaVale's relatively limited PT. I guess maybe the $11m salary dulls the sting?

The other Chris Anderson is even better -- though in a different realm:

It looks like Cousins might get extended. It will be interesting to see what the contract is. My guess would be the dollar figure is close to max, however the guaranteed amount will be significantly less.

George has earned it though.

note: not saying Wall does not deserve his extension. He does imo.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

He is definitely a clear full max player. The evidence is a lot stronger that is a franchise player than it is with John Wall.
