I'm going to drop this to 37 wins. Not only will Okafor's injury cost the team 5 wins, it also robs me of my Douglas Adams reference. :(

Unless we witness the transformation of Seraphin into a post-playing beast, I am downgrading to 33 wins until I see a trade or Singleton is cut to bring-in another C. Our front court will be getting abused on the regular.

My thoughts exactly. Please mark me down for 30. I expect a third of the games will have the starting line up of Seraphin + Vesely/Booker. That my friends is a winning recipe...in a place where losing is really winning.

Yeah, we're not hitting the 48 I had, 40 seems more appropriate at this time.. :nonono:

Please update accordingly.. :(

ESPN 9/25

John Wall is healthy and feels as though, if the Washington Wizards can avoid the injury bug, they will make the postseason for the first time since 2008.

"That's the only thing that can hold us back," Wall said. "Health."

:( Poor John, he was interviewed before the Okafor/Singleton injuries. If Singleton is waived and replaced with a half-decent stop-gap Center, we may still nab that 8th seed. But any rotation that relies on increased minutes for Vesely in our front court depth? Eesh :(

I'm going with 27 wins....sadly. The Porter pick and injury to Okafor have already put us in a horrible position.

We require reliability from Nene, Booker and Seraphin....not gonna happen.

I need to see some preseason games to know for sure but I'm thinking low-mid 30s. Similar to last season, but not quite as bad. A poor start (not 5-28 bad, more like a lez boulez typical 9-19 start) followed by yet another strong but meaningless finish once everyone is healthy.

This team is so dependent on good health that i am not making any predictions until right before the opener. I think the bench is just too weak to have a winning record.

I like how reality is starting to set in.

I said 44 a few months back...I was definitely sipping some playoff kool-aid. I'll drop down to 40-42...they stumble into the 8th seed and get swept in the first.

42 wins & the 6th seed doc. I'm really surprised how high it is. They must see Wall's breakout as legit & have high hopes for Beal immediately. I'm having trouble seeing it because there's no clue when Okafor comes back and I can't imagine Seraphin & Vesely playing significant minutes being a good thing.

Wow, definitely take the under on that.

I do see Wall's breakout as legit and reports out of training camp have the vets astounded by Beal, his is the first name out of their mouth with Wall as an afterthought. Sure.

But we have no rebounding or interior defense without Okafor, whose prognosis is unknown but may require surgery, for defense we rely heavily on Ariza who will be a tempting expiring contract to trade. Porter will take some time to adjust and figure out what he can do at this level. Nene still suggests he's not 100% and doesn't want to play on the inside, and both Wall and Beal have played a headfirst attacking style, slamming hard to the ground a few times every game.

Have to see what we look like in preseason, but 42 seems pretty rosy.

Yeah, I had 45. With the Okafor injury, I was considering adjusting that down a few games but I have been waiting until we get closer to the season so I know how long he could be out and to see how they look. No reason to keep adjust at this point. We are getting to close to the season so I was just going to wait this out and make one final adjustment before the season starts.

Hell, they could still swing a trade. Anything is still possible. Just have to wait and see.

Brooklyn and New York will likely be ahead of us. Toronto too though maybe not the three seed where they have them.

Of the other Eastern squads, we'll likely be contending with:

Milwaukee -- if we were healthy we'd be at their level, maybe a bit ahead. As we are they've got us beat up front though.

Cleveland -- an interesting roster though they may be too young to gel yet. Still they have more upfront then we do, depth, youth, and size.

The HornetCats -- should be on the rise, if not yet good. But with Okafor out for an undetermined amount of time we might pointlessly joust with them for the 10th seed, before Cho instructs them to tank.

Without knowing when this projection was done -- i.e. before/after Okafor injury -- no way to understand it.

Wow Cleveland at 28 wins? Toronto at 48? Philly and NY at 38? Lots of questionable predictions here...
