Fab isn't the same prospect as when he was drafted. You don't get tossed away by 2 organizations for basically nothing with out major red flags. Traded for Donte Green and getting cut from the Grizzlies after only your rookie year?

Re: Around the NBA II
Melo is a 3rd string C and maybe someday could be worth 10-15 minutes off the bench. He has size, but his mobility and IQ are terrible defensively and he's absolutely awful on offense. Ezeli is better than Melo and understands the game better despite playing the game about half as long. They are similar in size but so far, Ezeli is the smarter and better player as well as the better athlete.
Ezeli is also a high character hardworking player who improved every year. He is a hard worker and very smart. Fab Melo is lazy and probably about as smart as an 8th grader. In one year at Syracuse he was on academic probation twice. That's despite having tutors and tons of advantages that most students aren't afforded. Don't be fooled by the player Melo was in HS and the name on the front of his jersey in college (Ezeli was heavily recruited too and could have played at schools like UConn but he valued academics very highly). He hasn't improved much at all since then and now that other guys are his size, his lack of speed, skill and IQ are all magnified and it is evident he does not belong on the court playing C in the NBA yet.
Also, being on the Celtics is not why Melo has been disappointing. Sullinger got run last year because he can play basketball. Bradley was one of the big reasons Boston moved on from Ray Allen. I remember Steimsa and Erdin getting good amount of run in their first years too. Doc plays young guys and the Celtics were looking for an answer at C all year. They played Green and Sullinger at PF because KG was their best C. If Melo was good he would have gotten an opportunity and not waived.

Jeremy Tyler was drafted in the first round of one of the most stacked drafts in recent memory? You're severely underrating how good Fab was and still is as a prospect. Boston is where young talent goes to die.
1. Jeremy Tyler was drafted 39th overall ...
2. he's older than Tyler.
1. 39th is first round? Do you not know how to count?
2. What's your point?

1. My bad i thought you were saying that Tyler was a first round pick...
2. He's a bust... there's a reason why Memphis traded him faster than a rabbit gets ****. He's either a big headcase or just isn't very talanted. (ESPN Ranked Fab Melo Second-Worst Player in NBA).

$90M is a lot of money. But this guy is already a star player on both sides of the ball...and he's just 23. His ceiling is scary high...good move by a very good FO in Indy.
I would much rather have Paul George on my team than Carmelo Anthony.

Re: Around the NBA II
What is it with the Spurs and their interest in very un-spur-like players? Is it opposite decade down there?
First Stephen Jackson, who they eventually had to kick off the team, and now Corey Maggette.

Re: Around the NBA II
Well, Jackson was a Spur in that 2003' championship team, so it made some sense, but then he got kicked out though. Maggette and Eddy Curry (last year) is just training camp bodies. It's very slim to none chance he'll make the team.

Re: Around the NBA II
The Spurs personal decisions aren't perfect. They had Drew Gooden for a while, doing his best to kill their interior defense. They had some interest in Maggs before when he was highly paid and superficially useful, and there was the extended Richard Jefferson run.
Though if they were going to take an ex-Warrior wing in for a training camp tryout I'd expect it to be Pietrus, who fits their 3 and D backup SF role more.

Yeah I don't see how some people are grilling Indy for this move. Until recently they'd been a treadmill type team and without George would continue to be one with little chance of acquiring a franchise talent or a guy even of PG's caliber. They signed him to a contract that would cost roughly the same if the waited until RFA and Granger will be off the books soon.
Basically their options were,
1) sign Paul George and hope he continues to improve so they can improve on a team that took the champs to a close 7 game series.
2) Let him walk and continue to be a treadmill team
3) Trade him for ??? Whoever they trade him for, the team regresses and most likely becomes a 7-8 seed or late lotto team until they blow it up for a high pick and hope to find a guy who can be a Paul George type talent
Hmm... real tough decision

I was holding off on the ALL CAPS and exclamation points until I see him dunk on Dwight and reject LeBron.

New jersey thoughts?
Didn't see a topic about it, but are your thoughts on the new jersey? (white with sleeves)
It's a great, it's a great time out!

I don't like the look at all. They look cheap. Understand they are marketing these towards women, which is fine, but the players shouldn't have to wear them.

He's just adding the necessary weight to be a stretch 4 for matchup purposes when Philly plays Miami in the ECF
