Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 3
Obviously that was tongue-in-cheek but I really like what Grunfeld did last year for the Knicks.
I thought the Prigioni and Copeland signings were good. Getting Kidd and Chandler was solid. And getting the old big of Wallace, Martin and Thomas worked out well for them too.

There goes that pipe dream. Smart by the Kings I guess. They'll prolly suck for another year or two and hope Cousins will have matured by then. They gotta spend their money somewhere I suppose.

Alex Len (ankles) participated in 5-on-5 scrimmages with the team on Thursday.
He was cleared by doctors two weeks ago and it sounds like he'll be a go for training camp. The Suns rolled the dice on Len in the first round and he's had surgery on both ankles since his playing days at Maryland. That said, he has a lot of talent and he'll have our attention over the next month.

The Wolves have invited SG Othyus Jeffers to training camp.

Alex Len in Phoenix with that medical staff is the best thing that could have happened to that kid.
Cousins got the 4 year max. Not surprising. SAC figures Cousins would get that offer in RFA this summer.

Please read again. The Thunder *does* have one of those "way more" guys. We don't.
My mistake, nothing to see here, move along.
Thunder did make a near max offer to Harden, but for a variety of reasons, both sides seemed hesitant about the whole thing. If he signed, you think all four max/near-max players would have made it throught those contracts in OKC?
PS: Hey, don't we have three near max (or at least future max) players already, Wall, Nene and Okafor? I guess that sort of illustrates your point a little too.

Yes Cousins would have gotten the 4 year max, but why offer it now rather than after a season of hopefully improvement. Were they concerned he would say give me 5 years or trade me if he has a good season?

Maybe good will on the part of the new ownership.

I read that Shaq is now part-owner of the Kings and has been active in mentoring Cousins.

Russell Westbrook out 4-6 weeks to start season because of a loose stitch after the meniscus repair. 2 things, 1 those surgeons are crazy, 2 Durant draws closer and closer to DC. Hope Russ gets healthy

I really lost a bit of respect for Durant when I found out that he dropped his agent and hired the newly authorized Jay-Z. I don't know the full story but it seems to me that there's just no way that Jay-Z can be a competent agent.

Eh, I don't know about that. Durant doesn't really need any representation for his NBA contracts since he's just going to automatically get the max available under the CBA. KD is probably betting that Jigga's entertainment connections will mean more off-court opportunities, which isn't a terrible bet IMO.

Right. Basically, as a basketball player he no longer needs an agent. And the guy he had was paid for his work. He didn't "drop" him.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 3
I think Durant needs an agent more than he needs an "in" with respect to the entertainment industry.
Anyway...
I was reading this grantland piece and it was super interesting. It also reminded me that I have completely forgotten/never-learned so much about basketball since the draft.
http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/975 ... guing-team
I had forgotten that Vasquez was traded to the Kings and Tyreke Evans now balls for the Pelicans. I had forgotten that Bledsoe now shares the backcourt with the Dragon in Phoenix. I had forgotten that Darren Collison is now where Bledsoe used to be, behind Paul in LA.
And speaking of LA, have you guys seen the Lakers roster lately? Nick Young. Interesting.

Houston looks good tonight. Rivers is a bigger chucker than Jordan Crawford. Rose looks very explosive.

Ouch. CJM out. Broken Foot. Needs Surgery
"The injury is identical to the one McCollum suffered in January, during his senior year at Lehigh."
Damn. Now I'm happy we weren't sitting there at 9 or so to pick him. Now that's what you call lucky.
Wow, is this a career ending thing for him ?

What was written in the FA? thread.
Nivek wrote:closg00 wrote:He was bad in SL, but Philly gets a no-cost look at a former 1st round pick in Tony Wroten. (Future 2nd rounder)
Kinda interesting trade just because of the one stat goober (Hollinger) trading a guy to another stat goober (Hinkie). Pre-draft, I had Wroten rated as a 2nd rounder. He has obvious ability, but he's a guy who needs to learn how to play.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 3
Billy King has an owner that will spend some money, but give him credit for finding players to fill-out the roster and add depth.
*Signing Blatche on the cheap
*Nabbing 41st pick PG Tyshawn Taylor from Portland (we draft Sato, then spent $$ to get Maynor)
*Drafting Miles Plumlee for added front court depth
