Man! How do you let yourself do that, good person that you obviously are?

If you are going to tar a kid, then find something real (not a speculative and rhetorical question) and use an explicit source (not some "prescient" unnamed person).

I know this is only an online forum, but bad karma is bad karma. Give this kid a chance.

One of my sons, pif.

Kid is obviously jaded by my word of mouth. Just know I have done due diligence. I read everything I could find about Rice Jr. Two coaches. Team suspension and dismissal. Weapon discharged from car in his name. Negative comments from him re his own father. His father criminally assaulting estranged wife's BF. A lot of negative stuff...

I have a wait-and-see on Rice Jr. Wouldn't have drafted him. He's not been good people in the too-recent past for my liking.

I could be wrong and I HOPE I am wrong.

Vs Brooklyn:

Bad Boy played well out there. Liked seeing him show up in the right place and right time. He needs to slow down on his long ranged shots, pulled the trigger early a couple times when he had the room to aim, but otherwise he did well, undaunted and active. His defense is a little footslow but he stays active. He'll improve just by better positioning, less hectic, but smarter, as he gets experience.

Rice looks like a player. I'm not too surprised since I had him as a top 15ish pick on my board. May turn out to be one of Ernie's better draft choices in recent history.

Getting a Nick Young level player in the 2nd round would be fine by me. My guess is that he takes it to the basket more than Nick did.

^Exactly. What would be the complaint about getting a Nick Young type (hopefully with higher bball IQ) in the second round?

This is what I'm afraid of. I'm afraid that GRJr is going to be better than Porter. GRJr has the body, physicality, and aggression to succeed in the NBA. I’m not sure the same can be said about Porter.

Rice is 3 years older then porter, it is not surprising he's paying dividends already. You seem to like flipping a positive into a negative.

That'd be the last of my worries. Porter is 3 inches taller and has a bigger advantage in length. By the time he's Rice's age, he'll likely weigh more and be better in pretty much every aspect of the game. If Rice becomes a good player, that's a bonus - and not one that I'm expecting.

I said a few weeks ago that I thought GR Jr would probably contribute sooner than Otto...for reasons such as physical maturity and NBDL experience. But it's far to early to suggest that he's going to be better than Otto P. a year or two from now.

1. We've seen of all two SL games from Porter

2. You're worried that out second round pick might play as well as a lotto pick? That's a bad thing?

lol yeah, there is a bit of swag in him, though at least in the d-league he was extremely efficient with his shots unlike Nicky, so hopefully he's like what we hoped Nick Young could be.

The complaint would be that he wasn't a good player. Just as Nick Young isn't a good player (not by a long shot). If you have to carry a bad player, and give him minutes, that means you haven't picked up an asset but rather a deficit. There's no such thing as a bargain acquisition of a deficit.

Nick Young was a deficit because of his mental approach to the game, not talent. A Nick Young type (not an exact replica) would be an asset if he showed greater defensive effort and played w/better fundamentals and ball iq.

And lets just what if Nick did offer to come back and be a bench player at the minimum? Is he really a deficit considering we have guys like Singleton eating up roster spots?

Thought he was supposed to be known for being a good outside shooter.

I see a hitch in that shot I haven't liked.

Hey Double B, got another project for you to work on.

Hands you were right—should have gave the kid some playing time, especially considering how garbage Maynor and Temple are.
