God, why did Isiah trade van horn for Thomas? The team looked good with the mormon
Marbury trade of 2 lottery picks, young talent and expiring contracts for Marbury and Penny Hardaway's awful contract was a great trade then and now?
I just spotted an Isiah disciple among us. Usually these type of people pretend they never supported Isiah. At least you're open about it.
The Marbury trade was for a non lotto pick in 2014 and a future protected pick. However, the protection doesn't work when u miss the playoffs for 6 years. That pick in 2010 went to UTAH which turned into Gordon Haywood, the pick before Paul George.
The Curry trade was the worst though - the picks turned into Jokim Noah and LaMarcus Aldridge AND Curry's contract forced us to trade 2009's 1st rd pick (Jordan Hill) and 2012's 1st rd pick to clear cap space.
In turn that resulted in us not being able to include picks in the Carmelo deal until 2014 and 2016. Now, 3 years later, 2014 ain't looking so good for us and who knows if Melo will be here in 2016.
What's the lesson - don't trade future first round picks, it ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS comes back to bite you in the ass. And this is what makes what Brooklyn did so risky. They are going to be in a weak position for 5 years in order to have 1 shot this season, with a rookie coach, if they can stay healthy. The roster's great on paper but personally, I'd prefer to be building around Lopez-Favors-Lillard right now.
