Your best bet is to network a little and find a couple of open gyms to play at. I used to play three days a week in the Milwaukee area in open gyms at local churches back in high school.

Here are my suggestions

#1 Join the WAC - They have multiple locations in Milwaukee. I'm only familiar with the downtown, Fox Point and Tosa locations. Fox Point and Tosa have basketball courts. They have 3 v 3 leagues in the winter with decent competition.

#2 Check out Tosa Rec - We have two courts of 5 v 5 on Monday nights starting in 3 weeks. There's two courts and we play for about 90 minutes. Usually 25-30 people there with rotating teams that are put together by free throws. There's 3 "sessions" of hoops that run all the way thru April. The gym is at a middle school close to Mayfair Mall.

You consider early mornings 8ish?

Starting to try and bulk as of last week. I'm at about 170 right now and I want to add about 18 pounds of muscle. Going to try to bulk 3 months, cut 3 months and keep that cycle going until I reach my goal.

Having trouble getting all of the calories that I need though. For the most part I have been able to get them clean... as in eating meat, whole grain rice/noodles, veggies and milk... but some days I have been struggling to do it... so I am scarfing down a burger and fries or a piece of cheesecake.

Always been a hard gainer. Putting on weight has seemed like it's impossible. So this is my last effort to do so. :D

Roll with a good protein shake for awhile.. possibly a creatine pre-workout. That combo works for me, at least but we're all different.

Yeah, I am historically a hard gainer. I'm about 6'0" and have lingered between 160 and 170 pounds pretty much my whole life.

I have been substituting milk for protein powders/weight gainer because I think they just taste disgusting. I get like half a shake down and feel like I am going to vomit... so I'm trying to look for some that tastes a little better.

Right now I am trying to do the GOMAD (Gallon Of Milk A Day) thing. Has produced good results for one of my buddies who was a hard gainer. I'm getting about 1000 calories and 40g of protein out of milk per day... so that has helped a ton.

I expect to put on a little stomach weight over the next three months. But I love eating healthy (raw veggies, chicken/turkey/fish and fruit... I could eat that stuff all o the time)... so I think cutting will be pretty simple for me.

So here's an update on my attempts at not needing to be airlifted out of my house by the time I'm 40

I use a hideously coloured excel spreadsheet to track it, it's kinda cool to look back because I remember pretty vividly when I first made the spreadsheet, first time I weighed myself etc. I want to get down to 85kgs (187lbs) but at my size/height it may not be doable. I'll try though.

Has anybody tried that T25 by Shaun T? The 5 days/week at 25 minutes/day is intriguing for my schedule. I did the first half of Insanity, which seems similar, and once the workouts went to 60 minutes I didn't commit to it as much. Just curious. I've been getting the itch to maybe get back doing something more than walking lately. Probably a bad time with holidays, but we'll see.

So I thought I'd give this a holiday bump.

A bunch of us here are going to do a myfitnesspal challenge, which simply comprises of daily tracking on the app and using the honor system. We're all stating our target weight loss and will be running it from December-February and that way we'll all be golden for spring.

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/

This is a really great app and if you're honest with yourself, you will achieve your goals.

My motivation comes from some bad news in that I tore my acl and meniscus while hooping and will be doing some rehab for the next 3 months. So temporarily I can't run off whatever I want and despite the devastating news, I'm trying to take it as an opportunity to really get my diet in line, once and for all.

It's colder and holidays and this is usually when we all get fat and lazy, but maybe this motivates you to take on your own myfitnesspal challege. I suggest doing it with a couple people to keep accountable.

Speaking of health and fitness, we are running a pretty good sale on all sorts of fitness flooring and matting over at our site, www.rubberflooringinc.com. If any of you guys want anything, I'd be happy to send you discount code for 30% off via DM. Shhhhh though, we normally don't give more than the 28% off we are running today but since you guys are like internet brothers in arms, I'd be happy to help hook any one of you up if you want. Just DM me and I'll make a code for you. ;)

Ate way too much over thanksgiving. Hoping to go harder than normal until Christmas to help with the inevitable overeating then.

If you are in Madison and have mornings free Wednesday and Friday, you should check out November Project (IT IS FREE!). I did it for the first time the day after Thanksgiving (because I was off work) and it was a hell of a work out and a great change up to my long distance running and weights.

Did it once a month or so ago and got sick for like a week. I hate running (non sports), so motivation is low to begin with.

There are some pretty nasty powders out there. If you want a good combo of quality/taste, I'd recommend Six-star nutrition's Whey Protein Elite Series. It's the one with Gronk and Westbrook pictured on it. Chocolate tastes great. Honestly the best tasting whey powder I've ever had.

Great for gaining. 170 calories, 30g protein per scoop. You will need to up your carbs, however, since you're only getting around 9g per scoop.

I was in your shoes for the longest time. I'm 5'11 and I couldn't put on weight/bulk for the life of me. I was hovering around 165 for years. I usually weigh in between 180-185 these days. Obviously, whey protein won't do it all, but it seems like you're on the right track. Good luck and keep at it! Remember to eat like crazy on lifting days. Nuts, seeds, protein powders, milk, peanut butter, whole grain bread, and eggs -- can't go wrong
