We should be 6-14 by the time Philly comes into town, not a snowballs chance in hell we beat the Lakers or the Spurs. Masai has gotta pull a trigger by then

Re: TWO: Tank World Order
The only problem with the tank is the damage it could be doing to the development of young players like Val and Ross. By surrounding them with selfish chuckers and an incompetent coach they could lose an entire year of development.
Hope that's not the case, but it's sacrifice we might need to make.

Re: TWO: Tank World Order
So far Ross is putting up the exact same stats as last year in slightly more minutes. We need to get him up to 24mpg and let him sink or swim. Is he good enough to keep or not. Right now he is either hot or cold on O, no consistency.
DD is the guy we risk losing with the tank, but he is also the guy leading the tank. He is sick of losing and may ask out soon. Something to consider if his trade value is good.
With Val we are wasting the valuable cheap years of his contract. Even with a low ceiling he will get 9 or 10 mill per based on history of big man signings. These first 2 years were always going to be losing seasons and we need to treat his PT as high level practice against starting nba talent. Give him touches and force him to figure it out. Bring in a legit big man coach to work with him during the season.
this is the season to get a stud in the draft on a rookie contract to put next to Val and build out from there before you have to extend those guys and maybe push into the tax a bit to win.

Re: TWO: Tank World Order
I hope there's room on the bandwagon still. With this team's ugly performance & the enigma that is Rudy Gay, lets tank!!!
I'd still wait a few games for Masai to finish "evaluating" but I hope whatever moves he makes are to send us in a downward direction for the season

I haven't read the whole thread so apologies if it has already been brought up.
How long until someone designs and starts distributing tWo shirts to wear to games? Or maybe stickers that we can just start plastering to things in and around the ACC?

This is a mid 30's win team. Right now they are underachieving and it would be a great time to move guys. Let this go on a few more months and fans here will be thrilled about making the playoffs because the Raps will have cut the 8th place deficit to only 6 games back.

Yup.
In terms of point differenial, the Raps are 6th best in the East right now. They've lost some close games.
Once they get over this next next 10-15 game stretch, the schedule gets a lot easier. Unless changes are made, the roster is too good for a top 5 pick.

My only concern, and I can't completely disagree with Masai on it, is whether he's concerned with banking on this draft. He may figure he can get more in return if he's patient, and is willing to sacrifice a top pick in this draft to do so.

I think if this draft wasn't so strong this might be the case, but given it could be a franchise changing draft, I'm guessing MU makes some big moves to ensure non treadmill status.

Honestly, I doubt it. If he had an offer for Gay, he should have just taken it in the off season. It's not easy to move a contract of that size, especially considering what he'd get in return would actually be a downgrade from Gay. That's not that easy to achieve.

Yes but he can move a crucial player like Lowry and let our scrub backups run the team into the ground. Even though Lowry isn't an allstar PG, without him on this team we would be real bad.

I was just going to write this.
Just trade Lowry and let Rudy chuck along.
How can you stop this tank?

Re: TWO: Tank World Order
Ideally you want to get rid of the non-long term players like Lowry and Gay as their influence over how Masai wants this team run is higher than the other players, despite whatever Casey tells them to do. They're set in their ways as players. They are not going to change how they play.
I wouldn't be too concerned about Ross' development. He's a career destined benchplayer, which are essentially a dime a dozen. Unless DeRozan is dealt he'll always be played sparingly
