Marc Stein: Raptors will most likely trade Kyle Lowry next

Post#1 » by polo007 » Mon Dec 9, 2013 4:48 am

http://espn.go.com/blog/marc-stein/post ... ne-dealing

The Toronto Raptors, according to the latest chatter in circulation after Sunday's shedding of Rudy Gay, are by no means done making moves between now and the Feb. 20 trade deadline.

The Raptors, meanwhile, have been expected to be active in the trade market since the season began, with ESPN.com reporting as far back as Nov. 1 that everyone on the roster apart from prized center Jonas Valanciunas had been made available.

New Raptors front-office boss Masai Ujiri has managed to trade away Andrea Bargnani and now Gay over the last six months to create financial flexibility going forward and -- with Toronto apparently to determined it avoids any accidental success in the Atlantic Division -- is said to be happy to surrender veteran point guard Kyle Lowry next.

The priority in Toronto is clearly finishing as high as possible in the lottery with Canadian sensation Andrew Wiggins and several other top prospects expected to be available to teams picking at the top of the June draft. Lowry is in the final year of his contact at a very affordable $6.2 million and believed to be eminently available because he's not part of Toronto's future plans.

Don't expect too much for Lowry. He's an expiring contract who's likely to demand a big time pay rise (the max he's received per year since entering the league has only been 5 million)

We'll be lucky to get a future 1st for him

Get rid of him fast, we can't afford wins like tonight.

I think we'll get a recent first rounder who hasn't panned out yet. That's my guess.

The quicker Lowry's gone the fast we can tank.

I hope he can go to a contender. He deserves to be on a winning team guy gives his heart and soul every time he goes out on the floor. I think he gets under looked in this regard, no matter the game or date he's always looking to grab loose balls and doesn't give up that pit bull mentality. Wish him well in the future.

Finally, this playoff talk nonsense is put to bed.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Possibly.

What would have been perfect is if somehow we could have added Lowry to the Kings trade and took back Jimmer and gotten a future pick (2016 onwards)

Tonight's win could be seen as a good thing. I mean DeRozan, Lowry, and Amir our most valuable assets and biggest trade pieces just had huggggggge nights on a nationally televised game probably watched by more than a few GMs. I would say it was a "good" tank win if you get my drift.

Really don't want him gone. Feel like most of our toughness and intensity will go away with it. Not that we have a lot but he honestly accounts for a big portion of what we do have.

If anything, with Rudy gone, it's more likely to happen now.

Wouldn't he look good on the Rockets?

Not sure if he and McHale can co-exist though.
