Nah, Lee's always been a solid and consistent bench player, just that contract is a bit too large and too long. It's weird seeing Memphis add salary, though.

jr is putting up 7 3-pointers per game per 36 minutes.

he'd be a perfect fit for memphis.

jR to Memphis
Lowry to New York
trade exception and 2nd rd pick to Toronto.

Who says no? Even with Memphis getting Lee they still need more scoring a perimeter shooting.

i was being sarcastic, but i'd be ok with any trade that rids the knicks of JR

Solid deal. I'd do it if you could include some lower level assets, like a couple of 3rd stringers with a bit of upside, a 2nd or two, etc. Don't know what you guys have to offer there but I'd ask for a something like that. Would be willing to include a bench player too, like Beno Udrih or Kenyon Martin.

What would you guys be rolling out if this went through? Rose | Hinrich | Deng | Melo | Noah?

We have Marques Teague, he's young and has potential but atm he sucks.

If we were to somehow get Melo, I think we'd be able to convince Deng to sign for what we were originally offering him with a real shot to win.

Yeah either the lineup you posted or I'd like to see something like
Rose | Deng | Melo | Taj | Noah

Big, athletic, good mix of offense and defense.

Yes - I think if you get Melo you might also get Deng which would be a legit team.

In that regard I think Knicks would need Boozer/Butler/Teague/Snell and the 2 picks.

I think that is fair.

I think Snell would be a deal breaker. We wouldnt have that many bodies, and hes one thats on a rookie contract and a good shooter. Dont think we'd give him up

Could this be why Shump is still on the team?

Waiters' ceiling is JR Smith, with MAYBE better shooting %.

Rather keep Shump. Especially after the impressive ball he's played.
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

IF signs indicate Melo is leaving after this season..do you think the Knicks FO would accept this trade

Boozer (1 year left)
Butler (Rookie contract)
Bulls 2014 pick
Bobcats 2014 pick (this is top 10 protected)

For

Extended Melo

One of the posters on our board brought it up. I have no idea where the Knicks guage Melo's value right now, just curious what you're guys' thoughts are.

For the opportunity to have a team consisting of Noah, Anthony and Rose as the core (and that's a damn impressive trio assuming of course Rose is able to come back...and you have to assume that)...it would cost more than no realistic shot at getting a top flight player in the draft (top 10 protected Bobcats defeats the Bobcats portion as much as the Bobcats playing very un-Bobcat like this year, the Bulls with Carmelo Anthony added before the deadline will still be a playoff team so their pick is poo-ish as well). Jimmy Butler is a solid young player but he's not a franchise cornerstone type and the Knicks need a realistic shot at one if they are to trade Anthony.

Yes, if there were no better options and Anthony tells the Knicks he's leaving, sure. But right off the bat? Not enough.

Agreed if Shump can do this consitently. Disagree on Waiters though, I think he can be a killer scoring pg/2g in the right situation. He plays at a pretty high level when he's running the team during one of Kyrie's many injured streaks. Dion and Kyrie just don't play well off each other at all.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Waiters. He's a volume shooter that doesn't always try on the defensive end. They might as well let Hardaway chuck away (at the expense of accuracy) if they wanted someone to put points on the board coming out of the backcourt in volume. Is Waiters talented? No doubt. But there really isn't a fit here for Waiters in a Shumpert trade. Flipping Hardaway for Waiters would make more sense since both these players are offensive minded/geared. Waiters, Hardaway AND Smith? Maybe if they figure out a way to merge the 3 players into one and take the best traits of each in the process...

This exchange of players + rights to Mirotic + Bobcats 2014 1st + Bulls 2014 1st + Bulls 2016 1st since Bulls'd also be saving $826,805 of luxury tax money.

I'm ok with this one Rasho but if we are giving them Shump --- which would be pretty awesome for Bulls -- they have to throw Jimmy Butler in for us.

Without factoring in the picks and assuming we'd also go towards a youth movement.....

Teague/Murry
Butler/THJ
Mirotic/Snell
Boozer/Gibson
Chandler/Bargs/Tyler

Plus we have the 2 2014 picks, our 2015 pick and now a 2016 pick.

Trade Chandler/Pablo for legit PG & or more picks. Let Stat expire -- sell Ray/Ray to local donut shop.

We aren't great but I could watch this group -- while we prepare to add a stud player via free agency and also use some picks.

We are stupid if we hold onto Melo --- god help us if we max this cat out.

Butler is better than Shumpert, they're not giving him up and 4 draft picks.

Either way, it's better not to include Butler because he, like Shumpert, will be due for a new contract in 2015 when we have cap space, which is another distraction and a potential risk of having to renounce a young player in order to sign max contracts. It's better this way.

Sure. But the Lakers wouldn't.

That said, I'm really not sure why the Lakers would want Bynum. He's an even worse fit with D'Antoni than Gasol is. Stoudemire would be a better fit for D'Antoni's system.

The same Pau Gasol the Lakers are trying to trade for Bynum's non-guaranteed contact and balking on the deal without the inclusion of Dion Waiters???

I'm sure they'd LOVE to reunite Stat with Nash and D'Antoni while taking on his fully guaranteed contract that expires after NEXT season!!!

I will do it in a heartbeat, Paul is a better player, and also expire at the end of this season if I am not mistaking so in theory, will have 20 mill off the books by end of this season..let Paul go, my question why would the Lakers do it?
