Re: Z-Rex: The Cody Zeller Thread
Something need to change with cody's situation...
He didn't even play the second half, and it's not even like McBob deserved to play 100% of it.

Cody was very good in the first half.
I was perplexed also.

Yuck.
How dare you insult Pat Burke like that. Cody wishes he had game like him.
Unlike Cody, Burke could hit the three and was a legit stretch four.
Haha, I actually loved those mid-00s Suns. I remember Burke being the crowd favorite during garbage time.
I remember him at Orlando, I admired him when he played against shaq.
He would sprint from defence to offence and as shaq was too slow/lazy he would beat him and get good position for easy points.
Scored Orlando's first 6 points or something. Love seeing guys using effort over ability.

Yeah, Burke was hard to root against. Cody on the other hand...

Cody is hard to root against too. It just doesn't help matters when he isn't ready. He should be in the D-League.

No his place is no in the d-league...
His place is in the low post and not in the high post as we use him.
Let be honest, Cody's shoot is far from being reliable at the moment, if he's sent to the d-league, I see 2 possibilities:
1) He is still used as a stretch 4 and continues to shoot poorly
2) he's going to be efficient like in the pre-season scoring in the paint.
We just need to change how we use him. As it has been proposed on the forum, move bismack at 4 next to Al and put cody at the Center sport with the second unit.

His place is yes in the D-League. Any rookie that is struggling as bad as he is usually get sent down. The only reason why he's not there is because it seem like our front office don't believe in that idea and it would make their pick look bad.

When we play New York Tyson chandler may still be out which would mean Bargnani plays center. Zeller should able to use that to his advantage.

If he was used in the post, and still struggling I would aggree with you.
But he is struggling at a position that is not natural to him.
And when he plays well in the first period, benching him the all second period is far to be logic.... The FO office and the coaching are just managing his situation very badly...

Re: Z-Rex: The Cody Zeller Thread
Utilizing Cody Zeller in the low post offensively won't help him much because he'll still struggle amid continuously getting his shot blocked & risk injury by getting thrown to the ground more often, but it'll make him more efficient than he currently is by shooting jump shots that he look totally uncomfortable shooting. I don't think Zeller can become a consistently productive player in the NBA without adding that midrange jump shot to his offensive repertoire. It's one of the reasons why scouts soured on him being a consensus top pick which led to him eventually turning into a late lottery projection in the weakest draft class in decades in less than a year

Exactly. Cody is going to have to make cuts and stuff to free himself from Bargnani. If he can do that then he'll have a good game for how ever many seconds McRoberts is on the bench.

Re: Z-Rex: The Cody Zeller Thread
The NBA's least valuable players
Who is the least valuable center this season?
Henry Abbott, ESPN.com: Kendrick Perkins will win this in a landslide. He plays long minutes, and his offensive numbers are terrible. But I'll point out that the stats show he is, nonetheless, part of some of the NBA's most effective lineups. So, either Durant is a miracle worker or Perk is bringing something. Cody Zeller, though, of the Bobcats, has similar stats, only, in addition, the offense and the defense get significantly worse when he checks in. (When he's in the game, the Bobcats are outscored by 7.9 points per 100 possessions, vs. 1.3 when he sits.) Zeller is 21 and a rookie, so it's no cause for panic. But if we're talking this season, he has been bad.

It's unfortunate that Cody has to play with Sessions. That's when everything fall apart.

Re: Z-Rex: The Cody Zeller Thread
You could do far worse than Cody Zeller off the bench. LA's backup bigs are Ryan Hollins and Byron Mullens. Meaningless Bobcat bashing right there. There are far worse players out there.mrknowitall215 wrote:The NBA's least valuable players

Ryan Hollins & Byron Mullens don't play enough minutes to be considered (both average under 7 minute per game). The article was referring to players that actually play normal rotational minutes on a nightly basis. Zeller deserves a bit of a pass because he's a rookie, but as a top-5 pick (even in a poor draft class) he shouldn't be playing so sub-par

Re: Z-Rex: The Cody Zeller Thread
Looking at Cody's stats he hasn't been that horrible for a rookie PF 5pts 4rebs .5blk .5stl 74%FT in 17mpg....the blue whale in the room is his FG% just 37% which is bad real bad.....but i do think he will shoot a lot better next season after a full off-season to work on it and get stronger my guess is 45% which isn't good for a 7ft player but it is a lot better than 37%
