Too much coasting.

lebron is having one of the best offensive seasons in league history. i'd hardly call that coasting

durant had just about as good a case last year. the only difference here is team records, folks

ray allen and battier are way off of last year's sharpshooting pace. mike miller is gone. haslem has been injured and useless. that's a lot to make up for

No he isn't. He was a better offensive player last season. Shooting doesn't tell the history. Factor in turnover rate, and LeBron looks worse. Now he is at 122 ORTG. Last season he was at 125. Durant is at 124 now. His AST% is at the lowest point since 2008. His TS% is also dropping. 70% in November, 65.4% in December and 63.5% in January.

In January only, he is at 31.2 USG%, 40 mpg, 28.1 ppg, 6 rpg, 6.3 apg and 3.7 topg (on 63.5 TS% and 119 ORTG). For instance, Durant in January: 35.5 USG%, 37.7 mpg, 36.1 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 6.1 apg and 3.1 topg (on 65.0 TS% and 130 ORTG).

Durant is much better now, without his sidekick, and a bottom 7 3pt shooting team (34.3%). LeBron's with Wade for 7 games in January at 34 mpg, and Heat is a top 7 3pt shooting team (37.6%). And playing in the West.

LeBron shouldn't be a dick. He shouldn't tell he's jealous of Durant's shot and how he would put up Wilt stats if he had Durant's shots. Durant is way more efficient at the moment.

What Durant's doing to keep OKC in the game on the absence of Westbrook is not human.

At this point what can you say about Lebron's seasons in Cleveland? you say that what Durant is doing with OKC without Westbrook is not human, so Lebron's seasons with the Cavs, he was alien!

Different conferences. The east always has 4-6 teams that are jokes, whereas the west may have 2 or 3. 3 team difference. Play them twice as much as western teams do, plus maybe more if you're in the same conference and you sang an extra 5-8 more wins than the equivalent western team.

That run to the finals was a cakewalk. Remind me who the teams were? A bunch of injured squads. Went on to get swept in the finals.

Current Durant is probably better than Cleveland Lebron.

It's not as much as you're trying to make it out to be with that many greater than signs, especially after Ibaka who is wildly inconsistent without Westbrook in the lineup.

Not to mention the drastic difference on quality between the Eastern Conference most of those seasons and the current Western Conference.

No, he isn't, but it's probably a lot closer than you realize or you're willing to admit.

Yes, he is very close, but not superior! I said it several times, Durantula is the clear MVP of this season and if Lebron doesn't work on his jump shoot and post-up game, Durant will surpass him as the best in the game next year!
Lebron needs to do like Jordan in his last years, improve his jumper and post game...Lebron's jumper is getting worse every year specially this season his mid range jumper is completely broken!

What? His jumper is getting worse every year? No, his jumper is getting better every year. The problem is that it is still inconsistent and he tends to lose confidence in it at times. He beat Indiana with jumpers last year in the ECF and finally made the Spurs pay in game 7 of the Finals. His 3 point % has increased every season for the last few years. His midrange % was one of the highest in the game last year.

Think about this: His 3 point shot has completely deserted him for the last two months but he is still sitting at 38% (while attempting 3.5 a game) because he started shooting nearly 48% of his 3 pointers. If anything, I rather lose him jumper now than in the playoffs. His 3 point shooting does seem to be coming back lately though.

I don't know if you guys understand what's happening. We're seeing now, Durant having a bigger usage than LeBron, turning less the ball over, while having less than 10 points in AST% differential. This is huge.

Durant's efficiency as a volume scorer is something that has rarely been seen in NBA history, to be honest. Not when he is shooting a lot of contested jumpers and long threes. His efficiency hasn't really dropped without Westbrook either which is remarkable.

The biggest thing that stood out for me with the 54 point game was the ease at which it came in the flow of the offense. He wasn't forcing shots, he was just in a zone and letting shots come to him. If he'd actually forced the issue he could have easily scored 60+.

He really is a generational scorer. With most volume guys you expect the odd 5-22 night, but if Durant returns that it's a shock (he will probably go 5-22 tonight now).

At this point, its hard to see the MVP going to anyone else. Lebron isn't playing as well as he needs to and I just don't see Durant cooling down, then when Westbrook comes back, the Thunder will pick up where they left off and probably get the 1st seed in the West. It's Durant's time and I think he is going to take it this year.

Well, what do you say after this kind of performance from Durant tonight? 46 points, 17-25, 6-7 from deep.

Barring some dramatic changes, he has this on lock.

My goodness, as a Heat fan, I sincerely hope Lebron is reserving something BIG in the playoff for the fans that he hasn't shown yet. Because right now, KD is playing like the better player
