Us Heat fans sweating over a home game against the Celtics while KD over here dropping 46 points on 68% shooting. Go home folks, a new MVP has been crowned.

Yeah, it's over. Durant will get it this year.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

I think this race is closer than people give it credit. Lebron is putting up ridiculous stats of his own on a team with a similar record. If Durant's jumper cools off a touch and Lebron goes on a run, it could easily swing the other way. Congrats to Kevin though for lighting it up through the half-way mark, he has played spectacular.

The problem is, Durant's stat is far superior than Lebron's at the moment, and hes winning games against top competition without his 2nd option.

After watching that Por-OKC game, there is ONLY ONE contender for MVP
KP. Kendrick Perkins.
KP. Kendrick Perkins.

Yep statistically Durant is better. If he keeps playing like he has recently he will have one of the top 10 PER season.

Meh--far superior? The stats are almost identical with Durant taking about 3 more shots and 4 more free throws to score an additional 4 points. Subjectively, Durant has given more on the defensive end. Both Wade and Westbrook have missed 10-15 games. Durant has the edge but it isn't the Grand Canyon, Lebron could move back on top with a hot month.
Don't be a prisoner of the moment, there's half a season to go.

FWIW, I would kind of like to see Durant get it this year. Regardless I think Lebron is playing a brand of ball that will chew people apart in the Playoffs.

Something that doesn't get mentioned enough I think is that Miami isn't dominating without Wade this year like they have in years past, they are clearly missing him when he's out of the lineup, and compared to what Durant is doing in the absence of Westbrook, I think it will have a significant impact on this race.
The level of play between Durant/LeBron is closer than some are saying, but the fact that Durant is doing a better job of carrying his team when missing his second option is a big deal imo.

Durant is the MVP. It's not even really that close.
The best player in the league right now, winning, storyline, carrying the team without his 2nd man. Everything points to Durant in the MVP race. I don't even see one argument you could make for anyone else, honestly.

honestly did not expect to see Durant ahead of Lebron in PER for at least next 2-3 years, as Durant enters prime and Bron starts to exit it. It's one stat I thought Bron will have on lock. KD is easily an MVP right now.

But Miami and OKC are 2 games apart in the standings. Lebron and Durant are essentially doing the same thing without Wade and Westbrook, respectively. Neither teams dominate while missing their 2nd option.

Durant is about to lap Lebron if he keeps this up. I'd be surprised if Lebron gets one first place vote if it ended today (obviously it doesn't)

OKC are 11-6 and Miami are I think 5-5 or 5-6 without Westbrook and Wade respectively.
And if you took the top two players off each roster, Miami wipes the floor with OKC simply through experience and having Bosh. The narrative of missing their sidekick is massively, massively in KD's favour right now.
It's pretty obvious LeBron wants that three-peat far more than he wants a 5th MVP trophy, and it is showing right now. Not that you can blame him.

Does Michael Wallace get a vote?

People on Reddit calling Durant the "slim reaper", me likely.
