5 years $50 million. Do it Masai! If we can keep Lowry, Demar, Ross, J-Val and get a bonifide PF or SF then our team will be stacked. Lots of youth, talent and depth on the bench. Getting a marquis player is no easy task though.

It was reported that GSW didn't think Lowry would want to come off the bench. I think there's merit to that. But I don't know if that's much different from how many good NBA starters would react.

At any rate, I don't think a realistic deal was ever in play between TOR and GS. I can't think of any realistic deal they could offer that Masai would have liked.

not the best raptor ever but he's been the best raptor leader ever.
10 million a year, i'm fine with. as long as there are no major injuries he will maintain the value.
Sam wasn't the solution, but he wasn't the problem either

MaltonMavericks wrote:This is a tough situation because of the way his game has jumped in a contract year. I know he put lot's of work into his game in the summer, but I mean this is the year where he can either make your average salary or get a big contract. He certainly is playing like he deserves a pay increase but what if he would like to explore the market. Is there any rush of trying to sign him to a new contract early or would it be wise of Masai to just let it ride out until the trade deadline?

I don't believe he's playing for a contract. Last season he started off super hot too before he got injured. Then it seemed like Casey didn't want him to score. Instead he seemed to want him to distribute more and play a more reserved game.

Lowry is too much of a.compeitor to not give it his all game in and game out regardless of contract situations.

Lowry is playing like an all star and deserves to be paid like one. Masai gave Ty Lawson 4 yrs 48 mil, wouldn't surprise me if he offers Lowry the same

I hope we keep him

Ty was 24. That contract will end when he is in his prime which makes it a good deal. You're dealing with an older Lowry here which is much riskier.

At 27 wouldn't Lowry be in his prime for the next 3-5 years? I'm really liking how Lowry is putting it all together this year. It's like he finally matured and playing at his peak, no longer a locker room cancer

That contract kicked in this year and Ty Lawson is only 1 year younger than Lowry, but I'm sure you realized that before you posted. So someone turning 27 is less risky than someone turning 28? Got it.

Lowry will want 5 yrs no options. 5/45m at best 5/50m at worst. This is why masai is keeping all options open.

your math is all wrong too. Lawson is 1 1/2 yrs younger than lowry and his contract kicked in 1 yr earlier than lowry's will.

Lawson 25.5 - 29.5
Lowry 28 - 32
that's why lowry wont get 4/48m

your math is all wrong too. Lawson is 1 1/2 yrs younger than lowry and signed 1 yr earlier than lowry will sign.

Lawson 25.5 - 29.5
Lowry 28 - 32

I was trying to point out that age was irrelevant, I realized Lawson was younger when I made the originally post it was simply a typo on my part. It was a predictable response by inevitable. If 4 yrs 48 mil is fine for a guy whose 25-26 then it should be fine for a guy whose 27-28. There's always risk involved.

Raymond Felton's nickname is Cupcakes - not Fatty. Don't get that twisted.

PAID as in a significant pay raise.

Probably 20 years, 40 million per. Plus an unlimited supply of hoes at Lowry's disposal - whenever, wherever.

Lowry will not be traded unless the offer you can't resist comes in which would be a young good prospect plus 2014 lottery pick at least
I don't see this coming so for several other reasons MU can't trade Lowry
1) raps would likely go from 3rd in the east to 7-8th and got caught in no mans land...
2) team s rolling and no GM would take the air of their lungs . Who says they can't go to 2nd round.and what if by than pacers/great are injury crippled (no George or lebron)
3) this city and fans were waiting so many years for some success and now MLSE is starting to sell seats again, imagine play off this year-and what it does for next year new season ticket holders
4) what message you are sending to other players? Play at all star level to get traded;)??
5) what message you are sending to any future young prospect or FA agents?
..
Lowry can't be signed now at what he worts/will get this summer (he can only be extended under his free agency current value) so MU will run the ship and once this season is done..he can still offer that 5th year no other team can..or at that point sign and trade him and get better value than now.
..
Again unless we get young prospect plus lottery pick this year (so two for one) Lowry plays out the season 100%
