He had the clamps on a waffle all night long, his potential as a defender is through the roof if he stays down on pump fakes and doesn't get stuck on screens

In a word .. YES .. he still misses the odd rotation or gambles on a steal cause he is young, but in general his lateral quicks, hops, and athleticism allow him to stay in front of pretty much any player in the league. The only time he is gonna have trouble is when his weight doesn't allow him to hold his position as we saw against brooklyn a couple of times when he was on Pierce

They asked Casey and his response was to say no, but the smirk on his face was like, "shhh, don't report it, keep talking about Kyle and DeMar and Drake". It was like seriously Casey's secret weapon and his reason for why things have turned around.

This is nothing new. He'll be one of the best defenders in the league once he puts on some more strength and learns to play better post D against stronger players, fight through screens and not foul jump shooters or go for pump fakes as much.

Joe Johnson was doing a great job backing Ross down as well. He definitely needs to hit the weights in the off season.

Seen a glimpse of this last season then he got away from it....happy to see him focused on d again.

Turn him into 3+D guy, trade Doube D to the highest bidder.

JJ was 3-10 the other night. Ross did a good job on him.

I'm not saying he's not a good defender, but if you watched the game, you would of saw how easily Joe Johnson was backing him down.

He seriously has the best lateral quickness I've seen in a while, and he can recover so fast even if he's beaten off the dribble. He's like jesus.

Ross is what we wanted James Johnson to be. Johnson had great defense but couldn't buy any buckets. Ross is a unique 3+D guy. Most notable 3+D guys are Battier and Bowen, but neither had the athleticism that Ross does. It'll be exciting to see him develop.

It's gotten to the point where I expect the perimeter player to give up on the drive & pass it when Ross is on him. Seems to happen every time. Ross has to be one of the quickest players in the league. It's amazing how quick, yet effortless he moves. Seems to always be a step ahead of the offensive player.

I think we underrate him as an athlete. He has to be top 5 in the league right now.

The only athlete we've ever had that compares to Ross is VC. VC was better with the ball in his hands, but Ross is quicker. Hops are probably about the same. VC's dunks looked better because he had more length.
