I think Booker and Temple could have been used in spot minutes just to get guys rest. Once dunan was gone there was no reason to have gortat. He showed all game long he couldn't finish in traffic. He's a soft euro, and that is the cold reality.

Beal being on minute limits still is the real killed. Webster, sans one 3 pointer did very little out there in the 4th and beyond. We were shooting 60+% in the 1st half...was 44% by the end of the game....thats inexcusable. Randy didn't do well in getting the guys motivated in the 3rd and he didn't do a good job in setting up any competent offense at the end of the 4th. He's got them playing good defense, but you can't go very far with a one minded coach.

SAS/Pop know how to defend role players. If Martell had forced shots under pressure
I'm pretty sure I'd hear a chorus of criticism about his lack of conscious.

Come on, TGW, don't you know that the players get all the credit for wins and the coach gets all the blame for losses???

You want to know why the Wiz lost the game? Gambling on D. Wall was freelancing all night and let Mills get wide open threes in regulation. Webster was horrible on D and provided absolutely zilch on offense. People want to look at the overtime periods, but the Wizards would have won it in regulation if they just played tough D instead of gambling all night.

It didn't help that Beal couldn't play in OT. I think we would have won if he was in instead of Webster.

And TGW is right. Spurs is a damn good team, even their scrubs. I have watched plenty games over the last two years when their scrubs have beaten good teams when resting Duncan, Parker and Ginobli.

Interesting observation BobbyD...kinda the defensive version of a shooter getting
hot early in a game and continuing to jack shots at the end. And dying by the jump
shot. Without going back and re-watching, I will accept that our D was gambling
too much early. The Spurs figured it out and adjusted. We paid the price. Dang close though.
I'm disappointed but not terribly discouraged. As always, it's more about the next game.

The Wizards need desperately to make a roster move to get offensive help off the bench at PG/SG. Maynor is an epic fail.

Last time I checked, Pierre Jackson had dropped 40 points or more in several D-League games. That kind of scoring could have helped in a 2 OT game.

Nene and Gortat are a good 6-8 years younger and looked like pansies!

Nene esp with his lack of aggression and getting dominated tonight. Just unacceptable.

Wittman had a horrible coaching night. Booker had it going and didn't get minutes down the stretch. He sat Wall too long.

Just an unbelievable game.

I had the Spurs winning the title before the season started and Danny Green and Splitter are big factors.
As long as they avoid OKC, they can win the West.

But TD is one of the top 2-3 GoaT PFs. He was frisky last night and got somewhat lucky
in getting tough shots to fall. He's that good but he had an above average night. It happens.

So far, in this millennium, Duncan has faced the Wizards 27 times. He has won 25 of them, including the last 16 in a row. My guess is that this level of domination is unprecedented. I wonder if any single player in the history of the NBA has beaten another team 16 games in a row and 25 out of 27.

I think Ewing dominated the Bullets/Wizards at a nearly comparable rate.
Maybe not quite that long/well but similar.

Others getting votes those years: Bo Outlaw, Anthony Mason, and Kendall Gill. For his career, Duncan got about 7% of the possible DPOY voting "points". Duncan never finished higher than third in DPOY voting (he did it twice). According to his ranks in DPOY voting, he's approximately the 8th best defender in the league during his career.

Over the last five years, the following players have received more votes for the award in given seasons: Battier, Bowen, Kobe, Josh Smith, Chris Andersen, Gerald Wallace, Sefalosha, Varejao, Grant Hill, Greg Monroe and Iman Shumpert.

:nonono:

Tim Duncan -- yawn, I measure my career by Championships. Really unappreciated but GREAT player.

So what has changed ?

We know that before the season started. Its why I suggested CJM, VO and Burke as draft options. It was either that, or Len because we needed a future center. CJM on a trade back would have been great. Would have been funny to see everyone freak when he got hurt again.

As for Pierre. I lead the Pierre crusade. Now, even though he has been doing that, I'm not sure if he would have been the answer. Pierre plays his own brand of basketball. He is very Nate Robinson. A real chucker. Not sure if he would mix in well.

True, Pierre Jackson is a chucker. Regardless, he's a good bet to be much more effective than Maynor.

The team needs to move out of the city. Go back to Landover or Baltimore. Or maybe next to the Nats. Nats have a good location. Sound side of the city to draw people up 95. Maybe out 66.

Well that's setting the bar kind of low.

Temple has been playing much better lately. Not sure available PGs was the problem last night. Would I like another option at PG/SG. Sure. Would Randy use them ? Not unless it was a name brand vet.

If the Wizards had Patty Mills 2009: 2nd Rnd, 55th by POR would Randy have played him two years ago at 22/23 and gotten what Pops got out of him. Not likely.

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/i ... atty-mills

Pops builds players. Randy waits for them to arrive and leans on his core until they do.

But you already know this.

Its was a really fun game to watch. First half was awesome. The Wall come back was equally awesome. Randy has coached them up for sure. But he still coaches to tight and doesn't take enough risks by leaning on his full roster. Short of Maynor, Randy should have the confidence and instill that confidence in entire roster that all of them are trusted to get the job done. That's what Pops does. And still, he would bench even Duncan if the team wasn't getting it done.

I want to see if Parker is really injured. Something tell me Pops was pulling a motivational move. I wouldn't put that past him. Pull Parker and force the rest of the team to step up. That would be so Pops to do that.

Pops giving the Wizards props.

http://www.monumentalnetwork.com/videos ... tgame-2514

They have come a long damn way.

Pops told his team if they didn't get into real quickly after the half, he was going to pull the plug.
Duncan then went 5-6 and 4-5 from the line 3 rebounds 1 block 1 assist over 8 mins.

Pop is a boss. All class.

"That's one of the finest wins i've ever been associated with, and i'm saying that truthfully....I thought Washington was great, they were physical, they executed well, and I thought we were on our heels.

"The Wizards have gone through some tough times and had some battles, but they've gotten it together. Their defense I think is so much better than the past. Sharing the basketball. John Wall being agressive and involving all his teammates. They've come a long damn way and that's why they beat OKC and Portland, and we were fortunate...but they've done a great job and I couldn't be happier for the coaches and those players".

There is no art or creative thought involved in EG moves. The only way he has been able to get a fresh new face has been D-League call up.
