I dunno, these teams have been negotiating since November and the secrets are probably few and far between at this point. At the end of the day, the message is probably, "go get a lottery pick, Daryl."
No kidding, you think these conversations have been going on that long?
I was thinking Asik right there. My point being that they are probably well acquainted with each other's assets, hopes and dreams. Ultimately, I would guess that a rockets failure to procure a lottery pick would kill any rondo parsons deal.

No we wouldn't my friend. We're not dying for any Canadian talent on the market. Unless his last name is Wiggins, Masai won't be interested.
I was thinking, as a 7-footer, he would potentially soften the blow of losing Jonas slightly, not just a PR stunt. I doubt Toronto parts with Valanciunas but IMO he's the admission price for a seat at the negotiating table. Terrence Ross and a couple of late firsts isn't going to get you Rondo.
Honestly, I just don't see us as trading partners, both our GMs are too smart to be fleeced in a deal. Usually, you only see a smart GM deal with a dumb GM, it's just the way business goes.
I like Olynk's game and I definitely see him as our starting center in 2016 on the national side, but I don't really want to see him on a Raptors jersey, he game reminds me too much of Bargnani
I know he won't turn out as soft as Bargnani was but Raptors fans suffered enough from 7 footers shooting 3-pointer. Jonas is what the doctor ordered for us, but thank you for the kind offer.
I see that whole Rondo-Toronto story as a message to NY more than anything. The Knicks are foisting weak offers on both teams, so they are basically ditching the annoying kid on the playground to play their own game. Metaphorically speaking.

More from Deveney:

Yahoo! Sports reported that Sacramento made an offer for Rondo that included two first-round picks and rookie Ben McLemore, but the Celtics would want a more established player than McLemore if a deal were to be considered, and the Kings were rebuffed.
The Toronto Sun reported that the Raptors also inquired about Rondo, but a source told Sporting News that, unless there is a multi-team deal, Toronto does not have the assets to land Rondo. Which has been typical of the conversations involving Rondo for the last two years — teams call and ask, the Celtics give an idea of what it will take to make a deal happen, and the conversation ends there.

The Sacramento blurb is revealing. It means Ainge is definitely aiming for a fast return to competitiveness. He won't part with his talented veteran team leader except for another talented veteran team leader. He won't put the team in perpetual strugglitude by being all young.
It's going to be a quick bounce back.

#Celtics hope rebuilding culminates w/one of the many bigs in '15 FA class (Love, Hibbert, Jordan, Lopez etc). Protecting cap space for that
Sean Deveney @SeanDeveney
If #Celtics want to lure Love, Aldridge or one of the '15 FA big men, guess what they need? Top-flight, pass-first PG. You know, like Rondo
That about sums it up.

Id happily deal with New York.
- Hardaway, Shumpert, 2018 and 2020 unprotected picks, pick swap in 2015 + whatever they can get for Chandler for Rondo, Wallace.
Then we would have virtually crippled both New York franchises in a mere season.

If true, that would indicate that the Rondo for 2 unprotected picks price tag is false (or at least misleading). No chance at attracting any of those guys in free agency (other than maybe Jordan) unless you have a veteran star or two already in the stable to lure them.
What the heck are we going to do to dump Crash if 2015 is such a big year for us?

none of those guys are game changers to me , i'm not giddy about landing one of those 4 players. Love would prob bring us closest to being a true contender, but he plays absolutely no defense. the other 3 no way are they 1st or 2nd options. odd blurb
edit:i guess lopez is a 1st or second option, but again he is awful on defense

I wouldn't say that but I guess it depends upon what you mean by quick and what you mean by "bounce back". Here is some recent statements from Ainge.
“You know what, I look at them as 17 opportunities to draft some really good players,” Ainge said. “Or maybe 12 opportunities to draft and five to trade, or five to draft and 12 to trade. It depends on the players.
“Again, I think that we’ll be opportunistic. We’re just waiting for an opportunity to do something good. And I think it’s important, again — you can’t force these opportunities. You can’t just be so hungry for a deal that you try to do a deal. You’ve got to be patient. At the same time, you’ve got to be aggressive.”
I do think Ainge's default plan is probably trying to start getting much better after the 2014-15 season but that doesn't mean he wouldn't try to get much better before then or after that time period.
GM's that try to force things before the time is right often take a slim chance of winning in the NBA if you aren't a major destination city like LA with competent management down to very close to 0% chance of winning a championship.

Common Ainge, don't get too greedy now. Who else do you want from the kings roster, Cousins ? Ainge shouldn't forget that he only has the leversge in regards to trading Rondo this season, but come next season he loses leversge because that would be the last year of rondo's contract so he either has to pay him max money, or let him walk.
No other gm is stupid enough to give you a kings random like the nets did Ainge.

They could stretch him in the summer of 2015; or, if they move Green, they could possibly rehabilitate his value next to Rondo next season and sell him off at the deadline.
If the end game is cap space in 2015 (not certain it is, could be one of many end games), then I guess Green is the most important piece to move, with Bradley a close second depending on what Ainge feels it'll take to resign him.
Frankly, though, isn't it easier to just trade for one of those guys instead of going the cap space route? That moves up the timeline and makes clearing space less important because they'll need those contracts to facilitate the trade.
If anything, the 2 unprotected picks isn't misleading it's more like the cover charge to enter the Danny Ainge trade lounge. It's high price is designed to keep out the riff-raff.

Love when he recently looked at the Celtics commented upon the young talent and not Rondo/Green/etc. I think veteran players know the importance of talented youth and if the Celtics draft well, lots of opportunities open up to attract veterans.
If the Celtics look very promising, you simply may be able to sign two high impact FAs to pretty large contracts.
Wallace after next year isn't much of an issue since by then he could just be unloaded if need be for something like the Nets 2018 pick or something like that.
Getting rid of Wallace now is certainly costly but by the end of 2015 very manageable since not every team will be trying to compete the next season.
I don't think Ainge has a rigid mind at all in any Rondo deal... He just wants a deal he likes. I don't think everything will come together so I suspect he stays in Boston until at least the draft.

Re: Rondo Trade Rumors & Ideas (update pg 8)
The problem with trading Rondo is that we'll lose our ability to attract players to come over here. It really has to be a very solid offer, also with players who might step up bigtime, a bit like what Sullinger's doing this season and a bit what Bradley is trying to establish. If we then can draft top 5 this year and that pick also pans out, we'd be a solid team of the future, where maybe one or two established top 30 NBA-players would like to get to.

Not necessarily. Having Lin AND Asik didn't stop the Rockets from being able to add Howard to Harden, and unlike the Rockets with Asik, Green's utility wouldn't decrease if the C's added a star big man.
The problem is that we can't be FA players if we're paying AB, Green AND Wallace. We can handle 2 of the 3, but not all 3.
Ship Green now and you'll just have to find a replacement for him with less money to work with in 2015 free agency.

Maybe Ainge is telling the truth when he says that he doesn't really want to trade Rondo, at least right now. If that's the case, he's certainly going to ask for a lot in the hopes that maybe someone indeed would do a Nets-like deal.
