Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
man GMs would be falling over themselves to draft Biz if he was in college. he would be a dunking, blocking, rebounding machine. judging NBA biz against college players is not fair to Biz and he has physical ability doesnt grown on trees. he is clearly a top ten pick.

Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
this is the same biz that averaged 5.5ppg in summer league this past year...
i would be cautious to assume that if biz played against lesser competition he would suddenly transform into a different type of player. he is what he is.

Biz cant catch which caps his potential a lot because he will never be any kind of threat on offense

im not even exaggerating when I say that if you stuck Bismack in the paint in one of these zones against Creighton he would have 20 blocks and 30 rebounds.

Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
I know. Put him in the middle of the Syracuse 2-3 zone or let him run with Duke or UNC and he would look amazing. He is a very good defender and rebounder but needs to get out and run to be effective on offense. Having him trail the break down the middle of the court would be great at any of the college teams that run. Shoot put him in the middle of a 1-3-1 in college and dare teams to throw it inside while he roams around the paint.

And MKG and Zeller looked like the 2nd coming in Summer League. At what point do we stop putting much stock in SL? Maybe we can trade Biz for Anthony Randolph...

you missed my point BD
only making the point that just because biz would be playing against lesser competition in college doesnt mean he would become an offensive threat. college, like summer league, is notorious for guard oriented offenses. biz in college would most likely still only score on dunks, transitions baskets, put-backs and free-throws and would still probably be no better than a 3rd or 4th option on offense.
i do agree that he would be a monster defensively and on the boards though.

Well, Hasheem Thabeet was once a offensive threat at the collegiate level, and I would consider Bismack Biyombo more skilled and agile offensively than Thabeet

Biz destroyed the Hoop Summit against the best junior basketballers in America.
How would he fair versus Utah Valley State?
If you put Jeff Adrien back in the NCAA he would sweep every major award.
Bismack would absolutely feast on college competition as he is right now.

Only score on dunks, transition baskets, put-backs and free throws? You mean like Noel and Drummond?

in this magical hypothetical scenario that has all the biz fanboys so fired up, are we assuming biz played in the NBA for 3 seasons and then was transformed back into college for the draft? or are we assuming biz went to college where he has been for the past 3 years and is now a junior?
the follow up scenario
would biz be further along in his development if he played 3 years in college where he received more touches on offense?
or
would biz the NBA player have an advantage over biz the college player due to better coaching (this year lol), better training, playing against grown men at the highest level and being able to focus 100% on basketball and not going to class (which he would take very seriously, because biz is the type who would go for straight As)?
my best guess for biz as a college player, assuming he went to college for 3 years - junior year he averages 11ppg, 11rpg, 3bpg on 60% and would be ranked somewhere between 10-20 in most mock drafts.

Because Biz bobbles one out of the 1-2 passes he gets a game means he can't catch. Besides, now you're missing my point, everything Biz does well is what GMs salivate over when scouting guys like Noel and Drummond. Hell, some people thought Davis would just be Marcus Camby lite. Guys like Biz are locks to be drafted into the draft every year, really bad teams always need a good big man.

i think scouts would salivate over freshman biz (just like cho did 3 years ago). but after showing only marginal improvements offensively between his freshman and junior years, those scouts turned their attention to the next young big man and biz slid down the mock drafts from top 10 to the teens.
deandre jordan was once considered a top 10 pick because if all the things scouts salivate over. but he showed very little improvement and slid out of the first round. even your guy drummond suffered from this as he dropped from top 2 to 9 because he didnt show enough improvement.

So now I'm a homer and a fanboy for believing that Biz is arguably the best backup 5 in the league and thinking that he'd dominate college and go in the 8-10 range (where the first upperclassmen would be picked) ???
Biz would have been a top 10 pick if he had gone to college (after his hoop summit game) on upside and physical skills alone.
If Biz stayed three years he'd still be a top ten pick on upside and physical skills alone.
I honestly believe the stats you've listed are something like he would have averaged as a freshman, 10/10/3ish.

sik, dont take this the wrong way, but you are the pure definition of a bobcats homer and fanboy. i think only stun has overall higher opinions of our players. but this board needs optimistic people to balance out all the curmudgeons like myself.

I honestly can't help but love this team, I've always believed that we would figure it out (and we will) I'm an optimist in that regard.
That said, despite my positivity, I would like to think that I'm a realist through all this.
It is my opinion (and just my opinion) that guys like MKG and Bismack are awesome prospects and will be players that are invaluable to a playoff team.
I'm not claiming anyone is going to be a perennial all-star/DPOY/MVP candidate (which would be homerism/fanboyism)

Judging by the GB there aren't many people high on Biyombo throughout the other fan bases.

Drom John (Mercer U)
"Biyombo has yet to make much progress in the NBA"How is the most improved player in the NBA not making progress? Biyombo WS/48 has increased .131 this year. His .138 matches Gortat and is a nick below Hibbert.Kevin Pelton (4:51 PM)
Win Shares reflects team defense heavily, so the Bobcats' overall improvement -- with and without Biyombo on the floor -- is what this stat is really showing. Biyombo's PER has gone from 10.1 to 13.3, and while that is meaningful improvement, I think it's more telling that he's generally the same player.

I would take Biz over a 40 year old Elton freaking Brand 7 days a week twice on Sundays.
