Ricky Rubio Could Seek Extension Offer Of $10M Per Year

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Mar 28, 2014 11:50 pm

There is a sense that Ricky Rubio's agent could "demand" a contract extension of $10 million per year with the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to a report.

Rubio is represented by Dan Fegan.

Rubio has not shown to be deserving of an eight-figure salary, 9.0 points and 8.6 assists while shooting 37.4 percent from the field.

Rubio is in his third NBA season.

sorry if you're going to have a 'news' update, don't add in opinion. Doesn't matter whether it's true or not; it's opinion. Or at least cite someone.

Good call! Dude is fast, got good soft hands and is an excellent pick pocket. But damn, he just couldn't shoot straight. So, I will knock off another 2 mil off to 3-year $22 mil.

He's referring to the actual article itself, that says "Rubio has not shown to be deserving of an eight figure salary,"

It doesn't list sources for that, so its adding an opinion to a factual article. He wasn't talking about the comments section.

He can definitely get 10M/season if he hits restricted free agency. The Pacers who are one of the most well managed organizations in the nba paid George Hill 40M over 5 years (8M/season) as an rfa. And People still complain about the pacers despite being a contender of not having a true pg. Rubio is a true pg despite the fact he can't shoot or defend. He is still one of the best passers and playmakers in the game. The joke is david kahn thought he was gonna be a max player and passed on stephen curry in the 2009 draft for him while letting him play overseas for two seasons.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

Rubio is a beast and is well worth 8 figures, imo. Especially, if it means keeping Love. Calderon got 4 years/28 million atage 32. Rubio still has tremendous upside and his one flaw is easily fixable. Any player can practice and be coached into being a good shooter. There are infinitely many examples of that. What can't be taught is an innate sense for the game and court vision. He leads the league in steals and is not far back in assists. He's still very young too. I recently went to a Mavs game to see him and Love in person. He was very impressive and scored 22 points, 15 assists, 10 boards and 4 steals. The kid can ball. Also, his shooting has actually improved from distance this year. His% has been negatively effected by his inability to finish at the rim. As his game evolves, he will continue to improve his jumper and be more judicious with his drives to the basket. He has the potential to be one of, if not the best PGs in the game and that's well worth 10+ mill. Particularly in Minnesota

Lmao @ rubios flaw being "easily fixable" even though he hasn't gotten any better in three years. Dude is an elite passer and that's it. He's not even a top 10 pg.

He's shooting 34% from 3 this year, after 29% last season. I'd say thats improvement. And yes he certainly fix his shooting woes. Jason Kidd couldn't shoot most of his career. I guess it depends on what you want from your point guard but the most important skill as a point guard is passing so I'll take him as an "elite passer and that's it". A point guard doesn't always have to score to be effective. Even Rondo is hitting jumpers now and he is much more mechanically flawed in his shooting motion than Rubio.

Exactly. His innate talents making him a rare, valuable, and true point guard. His youth to fix shooting flaws and become tougher at the rim. Plays the passing lane and on ball defense. He we would a steal in a 5yr 45million deal that gives him his last two years of the deal above 10 mill.

I dont think hes ever gonna fix his shot. Have you seen his shot chart? its the ugliest thing ive ever seen.
In the restricted area he shoots below 50%, in the rest of the paint he shoots 26%. On 2pt field goals outside the paint he shoots 28%, and is a career 33% shooter from 3. He is a horrible scorer from every where on the court.
and yeah he plays the passing lanes, but he is still a horrible defender.
To say he could be one of the best PGs in the league is a joke
