Trade 1:
#32 (Sixers 2nd) and #55 (Rockets 2nd) to Rockets for #25 (Rockets 1st)

Rockets get the financial flexibility of a 2nd round pick. Sixers move up.

Trade 2:
Thad Young to Spurs for #30 (Spurs 1st) and Spurs 2016 1st (top 20 protected until conveyed)

Spurs get younger and more athletic. Sixers get assets for a player probably not part of the future.

Trade 3:
#25 (Rockets 1st) and #30 (Spurs 1st) to the Raptors for #20 (Raptors 1st) and #37 (Kings 2nd)

The players in in the 20-25 range are all similar in value. Sixers creep up in the draft more.

Trade 4:
#20 (Raptors 1st) and #42 (Cavs 2nd) to Wolves for #13 (Wolves 1st) and Mbah Moute

Wolves move back 7 spots but get a 2nd round pick and get rid of Mbah Moute's 4.4 million salary. Sixers creep up even more in the draft.

Trade 5:
#10 (Pelicans 1st), #37 (Kings 2nd), and #48 (Nets 2nd) to Pistons for #8 (Pistons 1st)

Best player available at #8 could likely be Gordon. The Pistons already have Monroe and Smith at power forward. They trade down 2 spots to get someone like Ennis or Gary Harris and pick up two 2nds.

#1 Wiggins 8-)
#8 Gordon
#13 Stauskus
#52 Stokes

MCW/Wroten
Stauskus/Anderson
Wiggins/Thompson
Gordon/Stokes
Noel/Sims

But, in all seriousness, I think that's exactly how Hinkie will use those seconds. Maybe not to get all the way up to #8, but to end up making 3-4 selections this year and use the remaining picks to gain future picks/package and move up.

NIT Chip is on tonight. Larry Brown's SMU squad is taking on Minny.

Philly's own Villanova transfer Markus Kennedy is their starting 5 and he's killing it this year. He's averaging 12 and 7 while posting a 26.1 PER.

They're bringing in the #1 recruit in the nation next year in PG Emmanuel Mudiay. They should be sick next year.

Aaron Gordon is one of the players that I really dont have a feel for one way or the other. Not sure if he is going to be a terrible bust, and not sure he wont be a star. I tend to believe he will be a super role player/non-scorer type. I tend to believe the 76ers already have that in Nerlens Noel. I'm not sure how that would look on the court together, so its hard for me to get excited about drafting Gordon.

Not being facetious or anything. What is it that you see in Gordon that you believe the 76erd would need, if they already have Noel and Wiggins?

If I was a betting man, I would bet that we only go into next year with 3 drafted rookies at best.

Are there examples of guys who shoot FTs as poorly as Gordon has so far but still do develop a consistent jump shot in time? And, is he a "total rebuild" in the vein of Noel? Perhaps Gordon would only make sense for the Sixers if we do take Parker with our first pick, or maybe Exum but I don't see him complimenting Noel and Wiggins, Vonleh or Embiid.
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

I'm curious why you (and others) feel that way. The Sixers are preaching development, conditioning, proper diet, etc. Developing good habits is easier when you don't start with bad ones. I think it might be easier for BB to run his program on young guys that don't know anything else. One bad apple, you know? Of course it won't always be this way. The kids will become men with families and kids...

So, 15 roster spots...

Holdovers

MCW, WROTEN, ANDERSON, THAD, H THOMPSON, SIMS, NOEL, VARNADO, MUELLINS, KAZEMI?

Our pick, PeliPick, (3 more picks this year for 15 roster spots). So, FIVE ROOKIES?

NO FREE AGENTS, BUY OUT J RICH... Basically, another tank year and save the cap room for summer 2015?

The only NBA player that I know that shot FT's as poorly as Aaron Gordon was Eric Snow. Eric Snow was worse. He didnt get to Aaron Gordon level of competency, until he was a Junior in college. Didn't shoot 50% FTs for his college career, but almost immediately started shooting 70% in the NBA.

Well for one Hinkie seems to love trading like a lunatic in the 2nd but mainly, I just don't think we go all in tanking next season. Hinkie and Brown has some rope but I don't know if they have that much rope. I'm not saying we will sign FAs to long ass contracts but I could see a few more Tony Wroten esque attempts at finding talent and maybe a semi-vet Big.

This could easily change if lets say we get jobbed in the lottery and end up with up with a Vonleh/Harris type haul instead...in which going super young might have some value just in terms of seeing what you got ASAP as you will now probably start trying to use your youth a trading chips rather than building blocks.

This is of course just a hunch.

(btw I think a Parker/Gordon combo might be really interesting theory wise)

They shouldnt draft 5 rookies, at least not with 3 being 2nd rounders. That's a waste. They need to either use those picks to move up in the 1st this year, or they need to use those picks to replace the 1st round pick they lose in 2016 to the Magic.

That could slightly compare to Gordons situation?..... Id say Blake Griffin, who I still feel Gordon at best can become a lesser Griffin type of.
Griffin was a poor FT shooter....58-59% in college, and in his worst year in the NBA (11/12) 52%.

This year, he's flashing a MUCH improved jumper both at the line (70.7%) and on the floor.

Gordon is nowhere near the explosive athlete Blake is,and nowhere near the scorer/rebounder. BUT he's a very good athlete, and might actually be a better defender. His ball handling is pretty good for a 4, and his motor is high as well. He's probably one of the bigger risks of the top prospect in terms of "star" potential....but at worst your getting a high motored, athletic combo forward (right now) who can run the floor, finish around the basket and defend at a high level.

sixers23 wrote:I think well have 4 rookies. Maybe another one we leave overseas

Yea thats probably my highest total id guess. 3 picks on the active roster and 1 possible draft n stash.
Lets not forget that we have 2 stashed guys right now in Kazemi and Aldemir (who has an NBA OUT clause in his contract that kicked in this year
)
Id bet money Hinkie makes some type of trade on draft day, whether it be moving up to get someone he covets or moving a few picks for future ones to keep the stockpile rolling into next year and the future, which I'm all for.
