Chris Douglas-Roberts On The Season, His Hair, And Coach Cal

Charlotte Bobcat, Chris Douglas-Roberts, joins the Mac Attack to talk about the team’s big comeback win against the Wizards, hist journey, Coach Calipari and his hair.

On beating the Wizards: It was fun at the end, but in the game, I was so locked in, because I knew how important that game was. If they would’ve beat us, it would have been virtually impossible for us to move up and get a better seed.

On the playoff push: Cliff doesn’t want us to get caught up in the hype and praise and we understand that, but absolutely we want to move up and have the best seed possible.

On the closeness of the team: It’s like a college atmosphere. This doesn’t happen around the league. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard, a lot of locker rooms are separated with guys playing for themselves. Over here, we’re genuinely happy for each other. Whether its a guy who doesn’t play or a guy who plays 35 minutes, everybody is treated the same way and that translates to the court and that’s why our team’s chemistry is so good.

On the Final Four: I’m rooting for Kentucky because of Coach Cal. He was my coach and I love Coach Cal and I want see him do well.

On being recruited by John Calipari: I was almost going to commit to Arizona. I almost had my mind made up and he called me one night and asked, Are you still open? I said, “Yeah, I’m still open” and he flew in the next day… He made my mother feel at ease, he’s a straight shooter and he has the gift of gab. He makes kids feel comfortable.

On could Calipari succeed in the NBA: I don’t know. He has a style where he’ll talk pretty bad to you (laughing). He’ll have the respect from the players in the pros and that’s everything. You have to have a coach you respect running things. If you do, things will go smoothly.

On his hair: I don’t know where it came from, it just came to me one day and I decided to go with it. People either love it or hate it, which ok with me. My whole mission is to send a message to the kids that you don’t have to fall in line to be cool.

Last week Baron Davis was on NBA gametime and during the Bobcats' highlights he said "Oh, he's rocking the Bootycall look" after the Jamie Foxx movie. I nearly died laughing.

So, the dread pirate Chris Dagger-Roberts walks into a bar with a steering wheel sticking out of his pants. He sits at the bar and orders a drink. The barkeep notices the pirate has a steering wheel sticking out of his pants. He asks, "Dagger-Roberts, why do you have a steering wheel sticking out of your pants?"
Dread Dagger-Roberts answers, "Yaargh, it's driving me nuts."

Congratulations, you successfully got me to laugh hard enough for my roommate to come over from the next room to make sure I wasn't dying or something.

CDR had 14pts in 8 minutes tonight.

"Thank you Charlotte" sounds like he thinks he's not coming back! They need to prioritize reSigning CDR. One of the best values in the league.

He looks like a human being right here.
