don't be surprised if Durant doesn't sweep the first place votes

candidates for spoiler obviously LeBron, and then maybe Dragic or Aldridge/ lilliard because of their value to their team, this is what led a knicks writer to give melo the mvp last year

There has never been a unanimous MVP, if Lebron in 2013 and especially Shaq in 2000 haven't gotten all the votes, then KD shouldn't get it either, because he wasn't as dominant as those 2 MVPs.

Still, I am surprised how much some sites want to keep the race open. It's not that big of a gap than some other years, but still pretty clear who wins.

Not considering overall level (LBJ is the best in the world and has been for 5 years, and nothing will change in the next few years, I know that), but to me the Griffin/LBJ gap for 2nd place is smaller than the LBJ/Durant for the 1st place
.
LBJ is plain amazing, but what Griffin has been doin' for his team is absurd.

Everybody agrees who is the MVP, everybody agrees who is second but there are thrown in more than 5 names for third best player so no, the gap between LBJ and the third place is significantly bigger than KD to LBJ.

It's not even clear if Griffin is the best player on his own team.

edit: Names I have seen mentioned as third place: Noah, Griffin, CP3, Harden, Dwight, Paul George, Love, Davis, Curry, Melo

ESPN is already declaring KD as the winner. I think most of us knew this like a month ago.

Their most prominent analysts knew too. Their most prominent NBA analysts, some of whom have a MVP ballot have already said a while ago that they will be voting for KD. I am talking about people like Wilbon, Simmons, SAS, and Stein etc.

majority of durants stats from this year are worse than last years minus pts. He is now shooting just under 40% three now. But everyone will round up

Well, if you just want to look at the raw stats, sure. Regardless, he has had an insane season and is going to end up leading OKC to a better record by 3-4 games while playing without Westbrook for 30+ games in a MUCH tougher conference.
Said in a thread about which point guards would make OKC better if they replaced Westbrook:

Well well well, with the Spurs clinching the West and Miami clinching the East, we have a shift....

His USG% went from 29.8 to 32.9, his APG is higher than last year's by a significant margin, and the rest of his stats have barely dropped. Considering the increase in USG% and such slight declines, nobody is worried about that.

KD should be a unanimous MVP , just like Lebron last year , Peyton this year , and shaq way back.... But there will always be one dummy that spoils it.

You posted the wrong conference, Spurs clinched the first overall but the Heat could drop easily to second because they don't have the tiebreaker.

I didn't post a conference standing. I posted the leagues best records, and to date, OKC are 4 games ahead of the Heat.

If Miami clinch the East, it is irrelevant.

I don't understand what you are talking about, the statement was "Spurs clinch West, Heat clinch East", OKC vs Heat is not even a topic in there. And how is it irrelevant if Miami wins the East if they play Indiana? Little confused about what you are posting.

Pretty solid improvement by Blake this year. Starting to live up to his potential. 3rd place in the MVP race is solid. Obviously he has to do something in the playoffs this year. Last year was very disappointing! Remember when he sprained his ankle in practice...smh.

4th is pretty open. Wouldn't be surprised to see Harden get it if Rockets finish 4th. Noah has a lot more media hype behind him though.

Indeed

QPR's post was just a joke aimed at me.

Well played, sir.

Miami has not clinched the East yet, though.

KD will win. I hope he keeps his WS/48 over .300 and his PER over 30. That is a truly epic year.

LeBron has narrowed the stats gap. But KD better overall record and enough margin in the stats for the clean win, which I conceded some time ago.

Congrats to KD! :D
