There were some huge missed calls however good teams overcome it. Nobody can blame the refs better than Toronto, it's like its in our DNA

Can't really say the refs were bad for this one. The Raptors played scared and sloppy much of the game and that style isn't going to get you many whistles.

Re: Update: The BIAS referee calling against the Raptors
honestly here's the thing... the refs make two quick fouls calls early to set the tone for the game... they usually do it on guys that aren't "stars" so that, the good players still stay in the game... problem is, ross is actually an integral part of our team game, and not having him and his 3 point shot and defense early really holds us back...
tbh, you're right, the refs let the raptors back in the game in the first half... they did favour a lot of brooklyn's drives in that first half though on plays where we would get nothing on the other end... but i just hate how the refs control the pace and momentum of games like this... there isn't always a "bias" necessarily, but there is always some sort of strategical way the refs shape the outcome and pace of the game... and often, it has nothing to do with what's ACTUALLY happening on the floor... they make up calls as they go... another example of this (which was a pro-raptors call) was that tech on blatche near the end of the first half... really that should have been a loose ball foul... which means two free throws for lowry... but the raptors had possession of the ball at that point... so by giving blotch the tech instead of a loose ball foul, that meant they got one point, plus a potential 2 or 3 more... so that favoured us... also, it prevented blatche from picking up a personal... point is, the refs have too much power...

Re: Update: The BIAS referee calling against the Raptors
Seems like people are clutching at straws because the Raptors were 'supposed' to win against the evil Nets so they latch on to the only thing they can blame. The reffing wasn't perfect but it was far from what cost them the game. They had every chance to win despite the wings not showing up and they failed. Sometimes you have to face failure and move on.

Re: Update: The BIAS referee calling against the Raptors
Every loss or win...you can come on here and see people complaining about the refs. It goes both ways, guys. I mean that tech on KG for 'pushing' Lowry was pretty weak, and it was totally in our favor. Also, for Demar to get 8 FT (around his average) with the way he played, it totally shows that he was getting the benefit of being an "all-star." He was basically passive and non-aggressive all game, but still got his.
Were there missed calls? Yea, of course. But there was missed calls that favored that Raptors too. You aren't ever going to have perfect officiated game in the NBA, it's just too fast of a sport. It would be nice if they could get it right all the time, but that isn't going to happen. Maybe in the future they can add a 4th ref and there would be less chances for missed calls. But until then, this is the best we're going to get.
Plus, like others have said, the missed calls weren't what determined the outcome of the game. That's really what matters in the end.

Techs tend to favour the team that gets them. The KG one was soft, but the play before he elbowed Hansbrough right in the head while he had the ball in his hands (meaning, refs clearly saw it and let it pass), so he was basically daring them to calm him down. Blatche jumped on Lowry, that's absolutely a tech, but missed that Lowry knocked him down first. But I'd for sure trade those two points for some foul calls in the 4th.

I was at the game.
The T Ross calls killed us. If you were intending to take Toronto out of the game, hitting \T Ross (a non star player) with 2 non-shooting fouls is a subtle but perfect way to do that.
He was locking up Joe Johnson in the plays just before he was taken out.
The no calls in the 4th quarter just cemented it for me. The league wants Brooklyn to win. There's no doubt.

Re: Update: The BIAS referee calling against the Raptors
Other than a couple of missed calls, I thought the reffing wasn't terribly bad. They called the game tight, and were consistent with their whistles.
For a playoff game, they should just let the players play... Reffed it too tight for my liking. However, its up to the players to adjust.

Prediction
Spurs in 7. Parker MVP. Lebron 6-17fg, 18pt, 8reb, 5 asst in game 7 LOSS.
The Heat will choke!

Re: Update: The BIAS referee calling against the Raptors
yeah, big deal that the refs were horrible. I also believe that the association wants BK to win this series. But you know what? Our team still has to play, and regardless of the BS calls, the onus is still on them to do whatever it takes to win the game (Which they didn't). Look at the Hawks. I'd imagine that the association wants the Pacers to meet the Heat at some point. However, the Hawks took it to the Pacers, and went hard at them, making the refs a non-factor.

lmao listen to most of you. the refs made bad calls for BOTH teams. The difference is that Brooklyn closed the game out and the Toronto didnt.

Re: Update: The BIAS referee calling against the Raptors
I thought at the very least they'd go easy on Ross after his first couple of fouls.
But look for next game for Brooklyn to make a concerted effort to get Val into foul trouble.

Re: Update: The BIAS referee calling against the Raptors
NBA refs are bad, playoffs reffing is trash (historically speaking) and for our part not getting a call in the whole 4th quarter is kind of mind-boggling... nonetheless, we were in this game to the end and if we weren't shaking like leaves we probably could have pulled it out despite the poor reffing.
Game two will be ours.

Pascal to the future.

Bias referee calling against the Raps has been going on since 1995.

That late game Pierce travel was brutal. A stop there would have been huge.

On review, it looked like he took 2 and a half steps--which in the "new" NBA, is a legal amount of steps.
Apparently it is too much to ask the superior athletes of today to actually dribble the ball one extra time before they shoot.

Re: Update: The BIAS referee calling against the Raptors
I didn't have a problem with either of the tech calls Brooklyn received. The first one KG slapped Lowry after a dead ball for no apparent reason, then KG started barking viciously at the referee for no reason. He's honestly lucky there was only one tech. The slap could have easily been one and then his screaming at the ref (he was saying stuff like "don't **** talk to me, bull**** and a bunch of other not nice things) could've been the other.
The Blatche call was a bit weaker but it was still a non-related shove. The tumble was incidental, but then Blatche intentionally threw Lowry down after. Whatever. I take it as a good thing Lowry's getting into their heads. GV was huge in doing that to Livingston too. We need to get under Brooklyn's skin, they have a lot of sensitive guys on their team that can easily be mentally checked out when they get flustered.
