I'm not sure how serious his political ambitions are, he's not educated.

He hasn't got any real political ambitions at the moment. He was joking about his future in politics, especially that plot about being a president some day.
None of his words was taken serious in Poland :D

Wow, its so refreshing to have a player who is genuinely hilarious without having to do stupid sh*t like eat a spoonful of cinnamon or bringing a gold plated desert eagle to the locker room.

I think this team will do well this playoffs.

The Wizards could have drafted and kept Nate Wolters.

Blatche was selected by the Wizards out of HS and not without baggage. Many seasons he was a good backup under EJ. Flip Saunders initially loved Blatche. Dude got a sweet contract and suffered injury. Before all this he was convicted of solicitating an udercover cop. He had been shot. No one questioned his past until performance lagged and Washington lost and Flip got fired.

Nick Young was severely intellectually challenged in HS. He was a teammate and foil of superstar Gil. He played a certain way, but not smart.

Javale McGee went to many different schools. His scholastic aptitude was not Mensa-esque. He always had a proud, strong, ultra-protective Mom.

When guys are young they do young guy things. McGee's Pierre stuff was funny to me. I loved the dunk that Flip Saunders went off about. I thought the cinnamon video was funny. But a lot of ignorant stuff makes me laugh.

dangermouse, I think more whites should be drafted.

I wanted Olynyk this draft. He's Canadian. Finished his BS in Finance IIRC, and was doing graduate work at Gonzaga. Son of a top cosch. Dude is razor sharp. Individual and not a guy to cut his hair just to conform. That's a bad ass white guy!

End of rant ....

i liked gil, nick young, blatche and javale..They were happy go lucky guys and that rubbed some people wrong but on a personal level id hang with them. I think the first three had good hearts and all four were talented.

What makes you think you need to be educated (or smart) to be a politician? Have you been paying attention to what some of our elected leaders in Congress do and say?

He's not American, but you may be right. Lech Walesa also wasn't well educated president.

Kevin Johnson wasn't educated either, he went back to school as an adult though and acquired the credentials.

And I believe Manny Pacquiao did the same thing, he's now a congressman in the Philippines.

From what I've read, it seems that Gortat has been rubbing elbows with Polish ambassadors and dignitaries since he got here. I'd be surprised if he doesn't have some sort of end goal for the things he's doing (not to say they aren't genuine acts, but still)

If Marcin is beloved enough by the people or perceived as a respected national figure, that would go a long way in jumpstarting a political career.

My Gortat prediction: if the Bulls sweep us (yeah I know "us") or beat us in 5 he bolts, if we win, or at least hang tough for 7 he stays--not sure what I'd pick if we lost in 6, I guess it would depend on how it went down.

Pretty much this. Of course there is a huge difference between the Polish and American politicians (Poles are not that much into the show, there are only a few politicians wise enough to use sociotechnics to boost their electorate) but politics is just politics - still the same ideas expressed in other way ;-)

Lech Walesa was another kind of a politician leader. He was the legend of Poland ... by the time he was elected president he was considered The Guy ;-) That was a harsh time for the country and the society needed to calm the atmosphere in the politics so they chose him even if a lot of people thought he isn`t inteligent and educated enough. 25 years later we do have some goofish, uneducated people in the Parliament but the ratio between them and (let`s say) those 'inteligent enough' decreases yearly ;-)

To clarify - people believe he want to be a president as they do not understand Gortat`s irony;-) he may try to use his position in the future to be in politics but I would say that he will try to do that make certain things (e.g. strenghten the basketball in Poland, help to change the public perception of Poles in the US etc.).

Anyway - that was a nice season by Marcin and I hope you guys gonna win with Bulls.

Not the best sign for retaining Gortat, there may be more teams better able to bid for him, but either way may drive up his asking price especially if he has a good postseason.

Pau Gasol should be plan B at center.

I think Gortat's gonna be loyal and will take a slight discount.

I hope you're right about Gortat CCJ, because I really don't want Pau.

Dude's starting to breakdown.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

If we lose Gortat, I expect Ernie to pursue Monroe. And I'll go back to calling him Gortwat.

I would like P Gasol here, but he will not make for a good starting center. He doesn't want to play physical so much anymore. We can get spot duty at center from him...~5mins. He is a PF, capable of mid range shots, pick and roll, and rebounding. Still, get him and put him next to Gortat for a few years...not too shabby.

Dallas and San Antonio are the big suitors. They have cap room, a talented team, a winning tradition, and no state income tax. Gotta watch out for them. If Gortat was 25, I think he might prefer to stay with Wall and build something here, but at age 30, he might be thinking more short term.

This team is not so bad, but we definitely need better coach. I'm sure Gortat would stay if Ted signs with Van Gundy or another pro coach.

CSN has an interview piece with the hammer right now.

There is something real human and endearing about how Gortat is so cognizant about his Polish heritage and being a representative of Polish folks everywhere. He's really grown into one of my fave Wizards, speaking strictly as a fan, as the season has gone along.

Gortat is a good guy and a good player. I don't want to pay eleventy billion dollars a year to resign him, but he is needed back—especially for what they gave up for him.
