Morrow is jealous of his, by comparison, pin-point like control.

Who do you bring up first? Nolin or Stroman?

Probably Stroman, because I think he projects higher. Both were college pitchers, so they've logged enough minor league innings. Then again, you could probably bring up Nolin in mid-season if he keeps this up because Redmond and Rogers aren't going to be around much longer at this rate.

I assume we're just keeping him in NH for the lulz at this point.

Schimpf has been promoted to Buffalo and is playing 3B today.

Those are rare XBHs for him...he had 26 singles against only 4 XBHs entering today. The walks are great, but he's going to be hard-pressed to maintain that sort of luck on balls in play, where "hard-pressed" means "it's entirely and utterly impossible".

Are you saying he's NOT the next Ichiro with more walks?

Wow. The kid is on a beastly tear. He's 21; still a very legitimate prospect. I'd love to see him maintain a > .800 OPS until mid-year to justify a call up to New Hampshire.

No wonder Dunedin is off to an 18-5 start.

With Dwight Jr and Pompey hitting 1-2 holding respective OBP of .434 and .426. As well, if they're not being moved along by the meat of the order they'll get there themselves with a 16/17 SB attempts. These two have combined to score 35 runs in 22 games so far.

Speaking of Canadian OFers, Mike Crouse seems to be doing pretty well in AA to start the year. He's walking at nearly a 15% rate. His ISO is at an all-time high. I know his BABIP is unsustainable but the walk rate is encouraging.

I looked up the FX series on minor-league ball and it seems like just the kind of show I would binge on. I went on google looking for it, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Matt Boyd has been promoted to New Hampshire while L.B. Dantzler has been assigned to Lansing.

Pretty disappointing with Dantzler's collegiate background that they wouldn't skip him straight to Dunedin, especially with Nay and Dean already at Lansing.

Good to see they're challenging Boyd though with the higher assignment.

Jason Parks had a glowing write up on Pompey today in BP's Monday Morning ten pack.

Said that they were foolish to exclude him as a rising prospect in the organization and that he is blossoming into the organization's top position prospect.

I was hopeful he would take the next large step into legit prospect status this season and it seems that the buzz around him is beginning to explode.

I agree with Schad that the numbers are obviously BABIP inflated, but he's still young enough that it wouldn't be a red flag that the pop hasn't fully begun to show yet.... and even though it may never develop as home run pop, with his speed, and this kid is an absolute burner, if he develops gap pop, he would be a doubles and triples machine.

Combine that with his mature approach at the plate and plus potential defensively in CF and you have a tonne to love about him.

How far are prospects expected to go in games? It seems like 6 innings or less has been the norm for our prospects.

Governed by pitch count usually. Sometimes rather arbitrary. Sanchez pitched to one batter in 7th inning, got him out on three pitches (popup in foul territory) and apparently hit his limit and was done.

Bison scored two converted touchdowns and added a field goal in a 17-run romp over Louisville. Bills are jealous.

Schimpf had his first AAA HR in his second AAA game. Played 2B tonight after playing 3B last night. If he can continue to show power, the ability to take walks and play multiple positions, he could actually be a useful bench player. Kind of like a poor man's Kelly Johnson.

Also, how does Drabek managed to walk 5 guys when his team goes out and gives him 9 runs through the first three innings. Pound the zone!

I'm beginning to wonder whether Stilson is injured this year. After being excellent last year, he's been pretty horrible in every appearance this year.
