I haven't labelled the entire country as sharing this belief. However his comments about Black Jews have been an issue in Israel for a long time. It is well documented and institutionalized with members of the Knesset actively supporting the illegal jailing and deporting Black Jews and asylum seekers from Africa.

I doubt it. Most of the players in the league are black so that's why there was such a large outcry. With that said, racism is wrong regardless.

He justified his racism in many different ways and none of them made any sense.

There is a problem of discrimination in Israel just like there is a discrimination problem in nearly every country that exists today.

It is not institutionalized against blacks and it is not part of the law as you mistakenly made earlier. The country has a separation of powers system under a parliamentary government that provides equality under the law and the ability to fight discrimination in court.

To assert these claims simply on a statement made by Sterling is making the same kind of stereotypical generalizations about minorities.

This is why I respect the Charles Barkley's of the world. They say how they see the world and don't sugar coat some political correctness that everyone would have inevitably been guilty of breaching if all of their private conversations were recorded and broadcasted publically.

People in western society act like they are blind to inevitable bias against culture, age, race, sex, religion, education / socioeconomic background, occupation, etc. If all of our conversations were public, we all would be guilty of saying ridiculous things.

I'm not defending Sterling but every individual of X ethnicity / age / sex / socioeconomic background / etc, on average, has some bias against others. And if you don't believe that then you're blind to cultural dynamics, which is especially concerning in a tense multicultural city such as Toronto.
