How so when Durant led the league in PER, WS, WS/PER 48 minutes and scoring and also won 5 more games? There is literally no way you can say Lebron was better in the season over someone else who not only had better numbers but won more games in the season. Playoffs could change that though with a title.

Sideshow is kinda a LeBron stan. If he had KD over him I'd be beyond shocked.

He ranks him like 12/13th all time on his list...

 I'm not that bad am I?

He's still well on his way to ending up as the best when it's all said and done if KD doesn't get his head on straight and Lamarcus (or Curry) doesn't grab the ring. KD is looking like the weakest 30 PER player right now (or 29.9 to be accurate).

What about Cp3?

He's up there but to get over Blake or Curry he has to make up for their extra 500-1000 minutes by dominating well beyond their level (he's not doing that currently).

Geez it was a joke. I have nothing but respect for Sideshow.

1. LeBron James
2. Kevin Durant
3. Stephen Curry
4. Blake Griffin
5. Chris Paul

Evaluating CP3 is the hardest of all. I think even if he played all 82 I might have Blake over him. I'm seriously questioning if Chris Paul is a better player than Blake Griffin right now. I'm really unsure.

Other strong contenders: Carmelo Anthony, LaMarcus Aldridge (Again, I was an idiot for not putting LMA on my prelim list).

There are other contenders as well.

There's a fairly large gap between Durant and Curry. Durant is solidly in number 2.

And yes, LeBron James has been number 1 for me all year. Why? Because in my opinion, LBJ is better at 5 on 5 basketball than KD if my goal is to win a title this season. Kevin Durant was my MVP this season.

What a stacked year. That middle cluster is really tight and there's a huge number of guys on my mind that do fit into the bottom section (Noah's somewhere on here, Lillard deserves consideration, Thompson, Wall, Beal, etc.).

Where do you have DeAndre Jordan?

Full DIsclosure: I'm high on DJ, and I can't for the life of me fathom how Roy Hibbert is on any top-15 list.
Full Disclosure #2: I've said Hibbert is way overrated long before this season even started.

Really interested where DJ ranks for you currently. I think if he stays on track and continues getting a little better, he can basically be a better version of prime Tyson Chandler with superior health/MPG for 7 or 8 seasons. I think this one the first year in that string of 7 or 8 seasons.

Do you really think Lebron has outplayed Durant this year? Isn't unfair to just rank players for a POY award based on how your opinion of their hypothetical performance?

I might put Blake 3rd and Curry 4th, but this is a good list.

I really don't see how LeBron is over Durant this year. Durant has out-performed LeBron, both individually and team wise, in the RS.

Based on what happened during the 2013-2014 NBA regular season, I believe LeBron James showed two things:

#1. He is better at 5 on 5 basketball than Kevin Durant.
#2. He offers a random team a better chance at winning an NBA title than Kevin Durant does.

Your second question takes issue with my opinion regarding #2. In the end, yes, my eye will always look towards what I feel a player's capabilities are come playoff time. It does contribute to my analysis, but it is not the only thing, or even the most important thing, that I consider (See #1).

Do you disagree with #1?

1. Kevin Durant
2. LeBron James
3. Kevin Love
4. Blake Griffin
5. Chris Paul
6. Carmelo Anthony
7. Steph Curry
8. LaMarcus Aldridge
9. Dirk Nowitzki
10. James Harden
11. Anthony Davis
12. Joakim Noah
13. Goran Dragic
14. Russell Westbrook
15. Dwight Howard

Yeah, I was gonna say. Also, I am not sure if you can include KD in the 30 PER club. Yeah, it was 29.9 but I think almost all of the 30 PER club members had a PER comfortably over 30. Do people here include this KD season in the 30 PER club?

Edit: CP3 did tough the 30 PER mark once, my bad.

Wade had 30.1 and Shaq has a 30.2 season in there too. And I wasn't putting him in the club just saying his season was on that level (Paul included too even though I forgot about him at first)

You are right, I stand corrected. For some reason I thought CP3 had a 29 PER season like KD but didn't touch the 30 mark.

Your right my bad. And I want saying KD was weaker than those seasons but saying he was on that level. Also 3 players over a 30 in one season? That's insane.

It does. But if you use the Season Finder search function and set it to 30 PER >= and 1500 MP >=, he doesn't show up. The lowest PER over 30 is Shaq with 30.2 in 01. Paul's player page says 30.0 PER. BBref disagrees with itself.

I am not saying you put him in the club, I am asking if others do because to me this season shouldn't be included in that club if he was at 29.9.

That's weird, ESPN has him at 30.04.

29.8 according to basketball ref. Definitely not in the '30 PER club'.
