I think Exum has a chance to have a Damian Lillard type rookie year.

Not as smooth of a scorer yet, but I think he's gonna have a great, great career.

Exum shot 33% from three and 61% on FTs at the FIBA U19s, and shirks contact at the rim against less-than-NBA competition. Maybe he puts it together but damn, that's starting from a long way back.

Most of his mistakes there come on rotating or helping out, he reminds me of fat Sammy on D. If he can focus on his man he's not terrible but he's oblivious to everything that is going on around him.

I'd estimate that the u19 Fiba WC last summer was similar enough to major conference D1 ball.

"Exum avoids contact" is coming from nowhere. He creates a ton of contact and is constantly on the line.

I think Exum has a better shot at a Jennings/Knight type rookie year than a Lillard. Lillard played 4 years of college and came out polished, but his freshman year stats are pretty close to LaVine's.

technically we could know the bucks are picking 4th after the 1st envelope. If Denver was sitting at 14 it would mean Phoenix, wolves and magic (from ny) had all moved up. Now the chances of that happening are about the same as winning the actual power ball lottery. What you really gave to watch for is philly being in the 5 spot or magic at 6. Since that's the worst they can fall if their name is in that spot on lottery night then you will know the bucks are picking 4th before they announce it. Again odds are slim that none of mil philly or Orlando end up top 3 but it could happen.

It's strange; he aggressively heads for the rim but settles for low percentage shots instead of finishing through traffic. Drawing fouls is a definite plus obviously.

his man defense in iso from the 3pt line in looked fine in the tourney even on a bad ankle, but I still want no part of him

Really curious to see how close Exum and Payton are in the athletic testing at the combine because I have the feeling it's going to be very similar.

I find it interesting that people still regard Exum in the same category as these other guys...We've spent months picking apart their performances as the go to guys on top college programs, but Exum still gets lumped in based on a few performance against high schoolers.

Don't get me wrong, I don't not like him, but too me he is on par with the other guys but way way more risky...if he can't stick at PG, what do you really have then? And do we know anything about his defense at this point?

You have a 6'6 SG with a great handle, good athleticism, and an elite first step.

I know what you mean though, the competition he faced wasn't top tier. You just have to look at what NBA-translatable skills he possesses, and from my perspective, he has the potential to be an excellent two-way player.

Really the only reason that I'd pick Parker over him at 3 is the "unknown" factor, but just remember that Giannis was also a complete unknown, and they were never touting him as a top 10 pick, let alone top 5. There's a reason why scouts are so high on Exum, and why college production shouldn't be an important factor when slotting where these guys fit as pros.

Yeah, I think he's the next great SG. Reminds me of Kobe Bryant.

Based upon the 31 games worth of stats that I used in comparison to other 18/19 year old collegiate and international players, he's the clear #1 pick.

He's also going to be extremely marketable. The Bucks have new ownership, now they need to rebrand the team, and get a guy that can sell.

I think you grab Exum this year and grab a big next year in a 'big man' draft.

These guys are hard to differentiate. I could listen to arguments for any of them.

I have a similar opinion Rock. I've gone back and forth on Embiid or Exum at 1 but they've been my clear top 2 for a while. I've also been thinking that Wiggins and Parker are closer to the rest of the pack than they are those two, but they still round out my top 4.

As of today I'd say Embiid, Exum, Wiggins, Parker.

Whte+Purple has the data for actual posts I believe. But the results were pretty similar if I'm not mistaken with Wiggins/Embiid a close 1/2 and Parker/Exum a close 3/4.

I don't think wings are any less important than PGs if they are hypothetically the same talent level. The same standard that people use for big men(value bigs over smalls) applies to wings vs. PGs as well.

I'm glad PP is here to make my arguments for me:

To add more color to the PG/C v wing debate, I guess I look at recent Bucks history.

Robinson and Allen never went anywhere until we got Brandon/Cassell in there at PG. Then the only other times we did ok were rookie TJ Ford. Good point guard play seemed to make or break this team.

At center, Bogut and last years version of Larry Sanders made this team .500 but in games they didn't play, we were awful.

The Center keys your defense. The PG keys your offense. The only exceptions are the top 25 all-time wings like mentioned (Jordan, LeBron, Kobe class players) who IMO really are PG's in most senses.
