I've actually seen a female similar to that at my gym. She hangs out with a bodybuilder that's like 7ft tall.

Anyway, my point for bringing that up is to say that it's a true p.i.t.a trying to find out what to eat. I read some articles online stating I should eat anything and everything, but when I do that, it leads to more fat; others say I should eat less, but if I do that, I get thinner.
And none of them give an actual meal plan. They all say to eat chicken, potatoes, pasta, etc., but the only way to get an actual daily meal plan is by paying for their advice via an e-book...
Anybody have suggestions at least? I've looked up myfitnesspal.com and will start keeping track of my daily calories/proteins/carbs intake there. I'm supposed to be eating ~2400 cals/day to maintain 170 lbs, and after I join the gym today, I plan to do 4 heavy lifting days a week.

Does that sound about right?

I know, I know. This isn't bodybuilding.com, but I figured there are enough knowledgeable individuals here that I should be able to extract some useful info.

you definitely shouldnt not eat everything and anything, that is how you get fat. theres some things you need to cut out of your diet completely - fast food, fried foods, sugar (candy, soda, etc), anything with trans fat and if you can, simple carbs. you should try to eat something green every day (salad, vegetables) and aim for required amount of vitamins/fiber.

honestly people go overboard with their dieting, you just really need to watch your calories and your macros. find your maintenance (how many calories you need to maintain your weight) and then eat over by about 100-200 calories if you want to bulk and under by about 400 if you want to cut. if you feel fat i would suggest cutting, since summer is coming up and all, then you can start a real clean bulk after you get your body fat % down.

really you just need to eat a lot of protein bro, as long as you are getting protein then you are building muscle and strength and that is the ultimate goal when you start off. i would suggest getting some whey to help you meet that goal, generally you need about 1/g of protein per lean pound of muscle in order to make gainz. so at least 100-150g of protein a day. some people say 1/g per pound but thats too much really, you dont need 170g of protein. salmon, chicken, lean meat and tuna are all really great sources of protein as well.

and btw try to eat mostly complex carbs, youll feel a lot better, aka brown rice and other whole grains. also nuts (unsalted/uncooked).

if you plan on cutting keep your carb intake extremely low (<100g carbs) and increase your intake of healthy fats (olive oil, fish, avocado, anything with nuts).

as far as meals, i feel like i eat chicken most every day with a salad. sometimes very small portion of rice because im cutting. lots of peanut butter too. had some ground turkey meat the other day as well. i like going to chipotle and getting a steak salad when im not eating at home. its not hard to find meals its just really simple and definitely not as delicious as what you were eating before, which is why people think its hard to diet. its really easy to find meals actually, its just not as good eating that food.

alternatively, you could try a keto diet as well. im sure theres plenty of info on that out there and it works.

I've seen women shaped like that in person, but they're mostly black.
