Then how come he isn't the number 1 pick? A DWade and Artest combo would be basically Jordan.

Lebron made it to the finals with that cleveland team.

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

Without the athleticism and mid range jumper

Without the athleticism and mid range or 3 point jumper

That's like saying Chandler parsons is a LeBron Bird combo except minus the athleticism and court vision
A lot can be said if you just take away two of a players greatest strengths.

I hate when I see guys compared to greats but I suppose that's the way it goes...

He's a mixture of Kyle Lowry and Shannon Brown. Put them in a blender and you get Smart

If you believe the combine measurements he is Eric Gordon physically.

Game wise he is a lot like Tyreke Evans. Tyreke averages 17,5,5 for his career. If you can get those numbers while winning and playing elite defense you will be a valuable and respected player.

As prospects, there is some Jarrett Jack to his game and there is some Stuckey to his game. He's obviously a combo guard at this point that's not much of an outside shooting threat or the sort of playmaking lead guard that makes his teammates better. I believe that if he develops he will produce like a slightly better George Hill.

The more I watch of him heading into the draft the less I like him. Great defender, forces turnovers, rebounds well for a guard but what is he bringing to the table on offense really. He isnt someone I want playing the point right now, I honestly dont think that will change. I dont think he will ever be an above average shooter or someone who is going to create for, himself or others well. I think his defense wilk be the only thing keeping him on the court.

He's more a cross between Jarrett Jack and DWade IMO.

Smart is James Harden good at getting to the foul line.

6'3-6'4, stocky, drives to the rim a lot?

WADE

6'8, athletic, maybe kinda sorta can shoot?

T-MAC

Euro, White, can shoot?

DIRK

White?

KORVER

That is generally how most comps go nowadays. That or if you look like someone else (ie. the Blake;/Gordon comp or the Vonleh/Bosh comp)

Do people consider Smart athletic? I've seen it a couple of times in this thread. I mean yeah, I guess it's impressive that he's as stocky as he is and can relatively control his body well, but he doesn't really change speeds well or stop on a dime and shift his body to fake defenders out. He sort of just forces his way to the lane.

After watching Smart play about fifteen times last season, I'd say yes, he's definitely an excellent athlete. Sure, he's very strong, but he has excellent speed and is a quick jumper. I saw him block a few shots on players thinking they had easy layups. No, he's not a skilled off. player, but he can get to the basket very quickly. It's certainly not just strength and determination.
