Redick ran faster than Chris Paul and jumped higher than Iguodala. So...

Redick is a good athlete. When doing comparisons you have to take size and weight into consideration. For example it is more impressive for a guy 6'8" 240 to jump 35" than it is for a guy 6'5" 190 lbs. to jump 42 inches. I'm sure if you had the time and perhaps got paid for it you could use analytics to find out what is an average vertical for the size of a player.

But you also have to note age, position, skills, IQ, etc if you're going to compare players... which is where the brooks projection for exum falls flat imo. Brooks technically being a better athlete without the ball means nothing... he's a better athlete than Smart, too. Should we trade our 4th pick for Brooks? :noway:

yeah all kidding aside. Exum>>>>> Brooks. This is kinda a pointless discussion.

But then theres this gem.

@DraftExpress: DX: Dante Exum vs Marcus Smart and Team USA at the FIBA U19 World Championships http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Dan ... ships-4613 - a possession by possession analysis

Looks like Smart held him in check in the few possession they were matched up. Exum also looks to not like the physicality of team USA.

Agreed on both fronts. However, I have to say that I came away a lot more impressed by what Exum did against the USA than I had anticipated. He showed some elite blow by ability (nearly tripped Smart up on one play, but over dribbled horizontally and turned it over).

He did have some turnovers, but I appreciate the fact that he didn't have a legit secondary ball handler and was still able to beat pressure a few times after his injury. That showed me a point guard who needs to work on his left hand so that his drives will be mixed up.

He "held him in check" two times and denied him the ball on full court pressure twice. Anyway, fairly small sample size, then Exum hurt his ankle and I stopped watching. Before that he looked fine. However I will say I know why he's a 60% ft shoot, his ft shot is flaaaat.

His free throws and off the dribble shooting are the things that could kill him if he hasn't been working on it diligently in this "down period". By all accounts he seems to have a good work ethic and some solid people around him helping him improve on these things.

Doesn't like physicality of team USA? Why? Because he got injured on a play and didn't even attempt to get free on those inbounds plays? Hardly means he doesn't like physicality. Some guidance will fix that as he adjusts to the NBA level. I bet that was the first time in the tournament a team applied full court pressure. There are plenty of videos of him bumping into players at the rim and finishing. What I liked is how he was blowing by good US defenders and crossed Smart over. Remember, he was 17 here and still in HS... some of those defenders had 1-2 full NCAA seasons under their belt already. Exum is going to learn a lot simply by jumping from HS to NBA level coaching/training. Very impressed with what I saw here.

This is my thing right here.
Not even 19 years old yet - Good work ethic, mature, humble, willingness to be coached/taught

The jump-shot will come with time, and we know he will work on it. The height and wingspan, no matter HOW HARD you practice, can never be improved. Smart may be ready now, but we're not winning any time soon. He's already got the speed and quickness so we can wait on his potential - which to me, seems much, much higher than Smart.

No doubt. He is in my top two prospects with Embiid. The one play where he blew by Elfrid Payton was really special and indicative of his status as an elite prospect.

Yeah I was impressed by that. Looked like Elfrid was nailed to the floor.

Agree with all you guys. Even though to me, it seems like Smart got the better of him a little, I was very encouraged by what happened in the game. Guy is gonna be special, and I really hope we get him. He said during the combine that he's improved a lot since last summer, so I can't wait to see him in our summer league, next to Oladipo.

His FT could be a little flat but this video is not the best video to judge it on. The aspect ratio is off and the video is squished.

Is it just me or this video by draftexpress is terrible? I mean its a very small sample size and didnt really reveal anything new. In fairness to smart, he did held exum in check by playing physically. I believe however that when given a bigger role, exum will learn to take the initiative.

that video proved that Exum's speed is legit IMO. he looked like a blur vs a team of d1 ballers when he was still a 17 year old in high school. good to know he doesnt only look fast against Australian high schoolers

I added the article to the OP as well

Evidently, the after Exum's workout, the Bucks still like Embiid, Parker and Wiggins more. Wiggins got invited for a 2nd workout while Embiid and Parker had Hammond fly out to take them out to dinner. Exum's workout was just good, not great.

Actually its otherwise. Exum was soooo good that he made the bucks brass second guess on embiid, parker and wiggins. Thats why they needed a second workout.

Oh, I get it, Bucks want to wine and dine Embiid, Parker and Wiggins while stating that Exum's workout was just good.

I came away more encouraged about Exum after watching that video. I love his speed and his ability to get 2 feet into the paint.
