It's funny how Prince Boateng talked so much s*** before the game and he was Ghana's worst player by far.

Sure, but he at least tried and Atsu will be all over the place against every team.
I wouldn't mind Durm at LB, but it seems like Löw's playing centre backs only in the back four.
BTW: How do you like Lahm in central midfield?
I'm nearly almost having a heart attack every time he touches the ball in the own half.

He tried but he is just not good enough there. Boateng is at least serviceable on the other side but still Lahm would be better.
Höwedes left Atsu always at least 5 meters to work with. Thats far too much. Großkreutz has stopped Arjen Robben numberous times in his career. Why not play him at LB? I have no idea.
Regarding Lahm and the midfield I have stated my opinion enough times already here. Him basically refusing to play FB is really selfish since our FB rotation is completely depleted.

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup: Group G (GER/POR/GHA/USA)
I liked how Mustafi played, besides the goal of course. You could see that he is much more comfortable going forward than Boateng is.
Höwedes showed exactly the problems that will happen if you are playing a defensive CB as a FB, he is really good if he can stay behind the lines, but can't keep up with the pace while going forward for 90 minutes.

I think the only person who benefitted from Lahm's switch to his new position is Lahm himself. Everyone's praising his versatility and intelligence, but the way I see it, he went from being the best RB in the world to just another decent DM.

Some of the Bayern fans on German soccer boards think he is some dort of holy cow. If you criticize him for not showing up in important games they will come up with thousand examples of games where he is great because not pressured at all taking his passes..like against Arsenal or Portugal when up 11 vs 10.

yeah he wasn't doing anything against us before that szncnezy red card , was getting overrun tbh and then he killed us off when it was 11 v 10. Destroyed us at home in 2013 though.

I'm not even convinced that playing him as a DM justifies putting Schweinsteiger on the bench... I think having Khedira/Schweini/Kroos with Gotze/Muller/Ozil in front is better...and then Low wouldn't need to play 4 CB's in the back.

I dont think there would be much of a difference if you put Frank Kramer in the DM instead of Lahm to be honest. Lahm has no sort of control at times in the DM. At RB every game he has at least 4 dangerous crosses and his opponent in check like few other FBs.

Yep play Lahm and one of Durm/Gross. Howedes over Merts but I'm guessing Loew doesn't want to unsettle Hummels partnership.

I don't like Lahm at DM but I still doubt that the Greuther Fürth coach would be able to play at that level for 90 minutes.

Anyway this game might be a shocker at the right time. They will not take the US game to easy.

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup: Group G (GER/POR/GHA/USA)
Granted I'm not German, have no connection to the team and don't cheer for them...but if I was Low and Lahm refused to play FB, I would've either left him off the WC roster and grabbed Schmelzer/Jung or sat him on the bench for every game until he agrees to playing either LB or RB.

If you dont pressure him he is amazing because he has all the fundamentals. If you stand on his feet it becomes obvious that he is not a great dribbler. If your team is good enough to force him to defend having to track back on D you can take full advantage of his lazy workrate and bad defensive awareness. Just youtube Bayern vs. Real Madrid 0:3 from Ronaldo in the semi final and you will know what I mean.
