Philly has five 2nd round picks. Webster for two round 2 picks is a trade I think helps Washington, if they are willing to pay whatever it takes for Ariza to stay.

The bottom line is that there are a ton of teams with cap room, most of whom need a few good swing men. If Miami keeps the Big Three together, there just won't be enough big name free agents out there to soak up all the money that's available. Teams might be willing to take Webster's contract off our hands just to add another shooter and get to the minimum team salary threshold while their at it. Philly is a good possibility. As is New Orleans, Dallas, Cleveland, Atlanta, Orlando, Phoenix and Utah.

Thing is, NOP needs depth after the Asik trade. Taking back multiple players in return for a guy that would be their 3rd big might interest them.

It would be real sweet to get Gortat and Ariza back and add Anderson. That would be a monstrously successful off season.

I remember being in the Sacramento area the day before Anderson was drafted. That's where Ryan played HS ball before playing at Cal IIRC. I wanted him to go to Washington that far back. He's been no disappointment. Ryan Anderson is due to bounce back strongly.

I hope Anderson becomes the next player NO gifts to Washington, after Okafor and Ariza.

just wanted to make sure people saw this. i'd give up webster in a heartbeat, but it would likely take more. is there a way to help NOP's roster and also help them shave some cap space?

I don't think it would be soon enough, but the Wizards could let Ariza walk in a S&T and the Wizards could take them both on with no salary in return. NOP would want to delay the Asik deal, since a Ryan Anderson TPE would be just a little too small to take on Asik. The advantage of using the TPE vs. cap space is NOP retains the MLE.

For the sake of argument, let's say Dallas signs Ariza for $9 million.

Ariza($9 million) - S&T

NOP out:
Ryan Anderson($8.3 million)
Austin Rivers(2.4 million)
NOP in:
Asik($8.4 million)

IMO that seems like too much. I see River as a pure dump by Rivers. Porter has been disappointing so far, but I think the pick OR Porter should be enough to get the deal done. Anderson only played 22 games last season.

Wouldn't give up Porter. He's going to have to get 20 minutes a night shooting 35% from the field and playing ass D before I give up on him. How can anyone here trust Witts rotations? He played Maynor for an ungodly amount of games given the way he was playing. He ran Beal into the ground despite the fact that the kid came off a stress injury and never gave Porter or GRJ minutes to keep Brad healthy. Not a single effing time on the year did he ever go small and see if an Ariza/Gortat frontcourt could work.

I'd give up an unprotected 2015 pick and Webster for Ryno. Throw in our 2nd next year since we'd just sell it anyway.

Porter didn't get any mins and imo if hes in the court the ball will move better hes faster and has much better dribble moves than ariza

Report is bogus. Anderson isn't being traded. Rivers, on the other hand, definitely is in play.

Rivers gets hated on a lot, but I'm a big believer in him. He does several things very well already, which is a great sign as to his continued development going forward. He's already a fantastic shooter, especially in catch and shoot situations (2nd best in the league after Kyle Korver).

He's average in the pick and roll (so is Wall).

His biggest weakness is oddly in transition, where he ranks in the 8th percentile league-wide in efficiency. He seems like the type of player who would flourish in transition, but I guess he hasn't figured that part out yet in the NBA. I think he'll develop those skills in time very quickly. Playing with Wall every day might help in that regard. He's also a good friend of Wall's from high school in North Carolina if I recall correctly.

The whole point of acquiring Asik was to round out their big man rotation. Asik/Davis/Anderson will get almost all of their 4/5 minutes. Trading away Anderson now just means they don't have a PF or anyone to space the floor. It would be illogical.

Not enough people hate on Anderson for his truly awful defense. Sure, the offense is awesome, but the pathetic defense almost counteracts it. He might be worse than Antawn Jamison on D in his prime.

I think if they got a rotation big AND a shooter (plus maybe a pick) they'd consider it, just because they need bodies. If Anderson was making enough for us to send them Nene+Webster, for example, then I'd think they'd have to consider it.

I think if the Pelicans have injuries they might seriously consider an offer of 2 players out of Miller/Webster and Booker during the season. The way their pick is protected they get no help from the draft if they struggle next season. So they probably would make a short-term deal to stay in the play-off hunt.
