We're learning Masai's MO. Like with Bruno, he won't get his man get away. He'll throw a 20th pick at Bruno, and he'll throw $12M to start at Kyle.

Sorry but a guy like Grange has way more Rap sources than Aldridge. I respect Aldridge, but Grange is better well connected in this case to know what is happening with Lowry.

Take what any good player would be worth on the Knicks. Multiple that by 1.25-1.3. That's what it will cost to keep him in Toronto.

Note: This only works up until the point where you reach the max. Once you reach the max salary you can kiss the player goodbye because all teams can offer the max.

This is why we will build around tier 2 and tier 3 stars and why we will overpay to keep them. Accept this. You know it to be true even if you wish it wasn't.

Hey, Knicks fan here.

Really happy it looks like you guys will keep him. He's the best point guard in the East and if the Knicks can't have him I'd rather the Raptors than the Heat or anyone else. Enjoy him. As far as how much, he's easily worth up to even 14m a year IMO but he has a tendency to be a contract year kind of guy so I'd go 4/48.

The problem is, Lowry is one of the top "attainable" free agents this year. And his attitude this year showed a total professional maturity. So I have no doubt there would be many bidders for his services. Once the handful of max guys stay put (Big 3) or jump ship (Melo) there isn't much left to choose from.

The downside of losing him is immense, and not worth the $2-3mm overpay to keep him from being tempted elsewhere.

The assumption you're making here...that he both turned his rep around in the league and that a lot of teams will think he fits well and would be willing to pony up for him, I disagree with.

I'd take my chances, like I said before. Make a fair offer up front, give him an option of years, and stick to it. I would not be reactive to what a team like MIA may or may not do, in fact I'd use that uncertainly to my advantage. We are uncertain but Lowry will be too, I'd be betting he doesn't want to turn down a 4/40 type of deal to test the waters considering his lack of previous big paydays. Say MIA is his only serious suitor (I have my doubts), they would only go after him if their other plans fall flat.

Im sorry, but whats wrong with 11 or 12 mill??

13 mill i agree would be a bit too much, but 11 or 12 is fine with me. Everyone knew he was gonna get that kind of money.

Woj/Stein/Alridge have player agency sources too, don't count them out.

Awesome. That's exactly what's required of a GM in this city in this league.

If it weren't for his past history, his market value is at least 13 million dollars a season. If he keeps 90% of his production, 12 million bucks is a slight underpayment.

Not Cheapskates, trolls. They flip-flops between definitely losing Lowry to Miami, to offering ridiculous low-ball contracts and then call him a contract stud.

If true it shows Kyle's a true Alpha Dog. This is his team (sorry Demar)! He doesn't want to go to Miami or LA to be Lebron or Kobe's bosh...I mean b!tch.

Wolstat is crazy. Kyle shouldn't cost you 11,12 or 13 million a year. 10 mill should do it and 11 would be reaching but 12 to 13mill a year for a guy whose only produced all star number once is pretty crazy to me.

Didn't Grange say Nash signing with Toronto was a done deal?

Wouldn't KD be redundant here? We've got the younger, longer Brazilian Kd afterall.

So for you, the difference between what should do it, and what is reaching, and what is crazy is 1-2 million a year?
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.
