Whoa now. Chances are he ended up "recruiting" in a large part because of all the bashing he received. It's also starting to seem as if that Noah tweet may have been directed at him. Either way, it's becoming pretty clear that the rest of the Bulls viewed it to be important that he actually participate in this process.

No point in saying that people jumped the gun. They didn't. He straight up said he wasn't going to recruit, and that's what people reacted to.

The bolded part is pure speculation and you know it. Can't just try and pass that off as fact. And Derrick said he doesn't recruit as a general rule, but it was also reported that he and his camp had already reached out to Melo (recruiting), yet people chose to downplay that little note. Bottom line, he recruited Melo when lots of people prematurely bashed him for not being willing to do so. They were wrong, they jumped the gun with the bashing.

I said "chances are ..." so obviously there was no attempt to sell it as fact. I just found the attempt to take a dig at other posters for reacting to something that Rose directly said to be pretty lame.

Won't be hard for a team to take on Boozers expiring

Philly will do it for a few 2nd rounders

Time to get a 3rd team lined up then

Why would NY be entertaining any S&T? I thought they were re-signing him.

This is how I view it too. If they're prepared to take less to win, Melo at 16m is not an absurd thought.

Not seeing this. Because LeBron is not taking less to win.

And Melo seems himself more still on the LeBron tier than he does a broken down Wade or castrated Bosh level.

How much did that championship matter to Randy Brown when he had his ring on Ebay for auction a few years back?

There is a reason why NY'ers believe Carmelo won't leave. 130 million reasons.

Why take 70 when I can take a 100?

So then why were you on the Melo to Miami bandwagon then?

Because it is negative to just be negative. I like to believe I am pragmatic but why not laugh a little people.

Frank Isola wrote some interesting stuff:

"Gibson's presence is also significant because it has previously been reported that the Bulls would attempt to trade Gibson in order to create additional salary-cap space for Anthony. However, the Bulls stressed to Anthony that in order to be a legitimate title contender it is important for the club to retain both Gibson and Jimmy Butler.

According to a source, Anthony wants both players to stay even if it means that Anthony will have to sign for significantly less than the maximum the Knicks can offer, $129 million over five years. Coincidentally, the Knicks essentially gutted their roster to acquire Anthony from the Denver Nuggets in February of 2011, and Anthony realizes that he would have to make financial sacrifices if he wants to pursue a title with the Bulls."

So Melo is legit about taking a pay cut.

Holy Crap! In the madness of today, I just realized I became a RealGM. 10K. Somebody and 1 my ass.

Thanks to everybody here, I spent half of today laughing my ass off and did absolutely nothing.

What about a 3rd team like Philly? They have huge cap space and isn't there a rule you have to spend a certain percentage on it each year?

They take Boozer for the 1 year, suck again, get another top draft pick

MCW, Noel, Embiid, 2015 top pick as their core.

They still don't have incentive to win until Embiid is healthy anyway
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

edit 7/30/21: okay maybe not, but it was a fun ride nonetheless

I'm riding the three-team LA/Chi/NY deal. Bulls end up with Melo and Pau.

Boozer would be a valuable asset to the Knicks. If they want less value more power to them lol.

But then again this is the same team who wanted Eddie Curry, and didn't have a 1st round pick for like a decade.

Peninsula Hotel. Probably.

I read it was there. I've eaten and stayed there and the Lobby restaurant is in the lobby with no privacy so they probably ate at Shanghai Terrace which is incredibly nice and has some private dining rooms as well as a rooftop terrace with great views of Michigan avenue. If you want to impress someone and show off the city it's hard to find a better spot.

Chi Bulls Rumors on twitter said this -

Think the point being discussed around our inner circle right now is that Bulls may trade Butler now while value is high for assets back and avoid his upcoming extension.

Trading Butler now could get you a potential late lottery pick.

That's just voicing his opinion, not any source stuff, obviously.

If we could get a late lottery pick for Jimmy, I would take that in a heartbeat. You clear up the space and get a legitimate asset going forward that can turn into cheap talent on a contender.

However, I think we don't have enough leverage in this situation to get that good of an asset. I could only imagine getting a late 1st, if anything.

On Melo and his 130 million dollar offer: If he takes that deal by the Knicks, more power to Melo. Everybody on this board would jump at the chance to be offer 130 million dollars. If anybody says they wouldn't, they'd be lying. With that said, if Melo takes the Knicks then I don't want to hear how "frustrated" Melo is at losing, I don't want to see him "complaining" about the lack of talent on the team. The Knicks are a cemetery for the next five years, and if Melo wants that, then so be it.

With that said, I'm glad everything wen well, and I was surprise that DRose got in there and worked out for Melo.

With that said, this is a situation that the Bulls could do everything right and still love. I hope not, so I chose to believe even though the chance of being burn AGAIN is still a possibility.

Oh yeah, I agree with the sentiment that Dallas, Houston and LoLakers are nothing but bit players in the "Let's Be Melo" Sweepstakes.
