Whoa now. Chances are he ended up "recruiting" in a large part because of all the bashing he received. It's also starting to seem as if that Noah tweet may have been directed at him. Either way, it's becoming pretty clear that the rest of the Bulls viewed it to be important that he actually participate in this process.
No point in saying that people jumped the gun. They didn't. He straight up said he wasn't going to recruit, and that's what people reacted to.
The bolded part is pure speculation and you know it. Can't just try and pass that off as fact. And Derrick said he doesn't recruit as a general rule, but it was also reported that he and his camp had already reached out to Melo (recruiting), yet people chose to downplay that little note. Bottom line, he recruited Melo when lots of people prematurely bashed him for not being willing to do so. They were wrong, they jumped the gun with the bashing.

Time to get a 3rd team lined up then

This is how I view it too. If they're prepared to take less to win, Melo at 16m is not an absurd thought.

And it should to the players also.
How much did that championship matter to Randy Brown when he had his ring on Ebay for auction a few years back?
There is a reason why NY'ers believe Carmelo won't leave. 130 million reasons.
Why take 70 when I can take a 100?
So then why were you on the Melo to Miami bandwagon then?

Why would NY be entertaining any S&T? I thought they were re-signing him.

Good thing Bulls have other teams lined up to take the Booze cruise.

Peninsula Hotel. Probably.

Gibson's presence is also significant because it has previously been reported that the Bulls would attempt to trade Gibson in order to create additional salary-cap space for Anthony. However, the Bulls stressed to Anthony that in order to be a legitimate title contender it is important for the club to retain both Gibson and Jimmy Butler.
According to a source, Anthony wants both players to stay even if it means that Anthony will have to sign for significantly less than the maximum the Knicks can offer, $129 million over five years. Coincidentally, the Knicks essentially gutted their roster to acquire Anthony from the Denver Nuggets in February of 2011, and Anthony realizes that he would have to make financial sacrifices if he wants to pursue a title with the Bulls.

Think the point being discussed around our inner circle right now is that Bulls may trade Butler now while value is high for assets back and avoid his upcoming extension.
Trading Butler now could get you a potential late lottery pick.
