Different situation. Bev was a minimum player and with the Rockets for how long 4 months? Lin was a coveted pickup and with the history between Melo/Lin it makes it even worse.

Lin is an overpaid bench player on his way out of town. If he goes to the right situation where he can dominate the ball he'll put up some nice stats, but he isn't a good fit in Houston.

Well, it is kind of akin to making fun of African Americans with a vaudeville era "blackface" comedian. Someone posting a blackface pic as "comedy" would probably get moderated for racism, and quite rightly too.

Melo haren and Dwight? Ewww though Dwight is slowly getting more likable.
Though I'm sure they will be a better team than last year.
But championship or western champs? Iono especially with Mchale.

3 of the players i don't like on my team

 I know one player I don't like(Howard) and Harden who I am starting to not like and Melo who can join the Rockets who I don't like. Ugh. But I don't like Lin never did, so I'd rather go for the better player in Melo. But I think Melo will be a much better player/fit on the Rockets

I´m all for the use of bible verses, but if Jeremy Lin was actually turning the other cheek wouldn´t that mean to ignore it though rather than make a fuzz about it on twitter? Found the give them your shirt also-part kind of funny though in this context (lol).

clutchfans? yeah, the posters on that board get derided for mentioning that word, yet a moderator very liberally mentions it here.

But fair enough. So you know, no one will be more elated and relieved than Lin fans when he gets traded so I guess he feeling is mutual.

The Rockets put together a similar presentation for Dwight last year. Beverley wanted Dwight on the team and said that he didn't care what number he wore and would let Dwight have 12 if he signed with Houston.

Correct.

2 Things that I'd like to point out about the differing situations.

1) Beverley knew he was going to remain on the team and that Dwight was 10 echelons above him in the pecking order. Beverley obviously gave his consent without hesitation as he should.

2) Lin was a coveted pickup and currently in a delicate/sensitive situation. Why rub salt on the wound and on top of it lie to the public that he was informed when he wasn't? Clearly disrespectful and not similar to Bev's situation the previous year.

Rockets look bad here, no buts about it.

Beverly also got the starting job so I can't imagine he'd have too much to complain about.

nice.. i'd love to see all the non-responses from people who were complaining about the bev issue not being an issue (instead of commenting on the topic at hand). personally, i wasn't aware of it at the time but my sentiments would have been the same: it's pretty disrespectful.

Except they never informed him, according to Woj. That was just Rockets FO trying to put out the PR fire by lying to the public. The lying and coverup makes it worse in my opinion, just like how the Watergate scandal was about the coverup as much as, if not more, than the original Nixon deed. Lying to Woj and then having Woj expose them for lying to him isn't the smartest thing in the world. Especially when you're trying to paint yourself as a competent organization to attract free agents of varying caliber (not just the big fish are looking at how the Houston FO conducts itself).

We all know you're an avid Lin supporter, no need to wage a personal war against me all of a sudden when we've never had any problems as far as I know. I don't think I've ever posted two words towards you until right now. Calm down. It will all be over soon. Lin makes 15 million dollars next year. He'll be fine.

Yeah, I saw that after I posted, hadn't worked my way all the way through the thread before to see Woj's update.

Rockets aren't exactly covering themselves in glory here.

The outrage/story that has come of it? To me this is making a mountain out of a mole hill. Have not watch ESPN so I not sure how they are covering it but likely doing what they always do in the summertime. Grab a story and beat down everyone's throat.

That wasn't me that posted that quote btw, the quoting system screws things up.

I have nothing against you or the Rockets forum in fact I think that you are a very fair moderator. I hold the RealGM Rockets forum in high regard as I think it's 10x better than another popular Rockets fan-site which I'm not a member of.

I just don't agree with your stance on this one and am lashing out a bit in frustration. I apologize for the personal attack by saying "Classy", it was unwarranted.
