would sign him to a 2 y deal. Send Mirotic for Melo to NY then trade Butler and Gibson in a package for a decent Shooting Guard.

I don't know if they can get Gasol for the 3.2 MLE. With guys like Avery Bradley, CJ Miles and Ben Gordon getting compensated, it's gonna be real difficult to make that happen.

Holmes also said that Taj would probably have to be included in any sign and trade because the Knicks don't want Boozer....so, yeah...he doesn't do ANY research apparently. Unbelievable :banghead:

No need. Plenty of minutes to go around for Gasol both at PF and backup C. This does make this incredibly interesting though. If Gasol truly sees his first option as the Bulls if we get Melo...he can easily help sway his decision.

Rose, Butler, Melo, Gasol, Noah + Taj off the bench with Thibs coaching--in the east. Can't ask for much more than that.

well if we could land Melo w/o giving up Mirotic this would be even better. So we could trade Mirotic instead of Gibson.

OKC has a $6.5 million trade exception from the Kevin Martin sign-and-trade last summer. It's possible they could amnesty Perkins and then acquire Gasol in a sign-and-trade starting at $6.5 million next season as their new starting center.

If Mirotic ends up in NY as part of a package I really like the young nucleus of what the Knicks would be putting together

?
Mirotic
Early
Hardaway
Larkin

Shumpert

I think Calderon would ultimately be a decent package for a team like Orlando ( Calderon's shooting balancing out Oladipo and Payton as well as providing a steady vet presence

Building through the draft and setting up for Cap Space

I think this is the reality for a team like the Knicks ...going hard after 2nd tier free agency talent and trading away draft picks as they have in the past just hasn't worked out

Its hard because NY is an unforgiving place and has its demands , however , they are a franchise - just like the Lakers where the old rules ( I don't believe ) will apply anymore

They're back in the pack with everyone else and needing to be patient and build smartly through the draft and then see if you can strike it lucky with a great core that a Top 10 talent(s) may want to join in free agency
"GarPax played Grab Ass with Mirotic for 5 years and been in Omaha playing Hide the Salami with Doug McBuckets for the 1.5 years and they've developed feelings for him. Well, I say "F feelings and F loyalty!" I want CHIPS! Jerry Krizause

maybe they will act like superfriends. Acting like taking a paycut. Melo signs and Pau follows him by signing for some peanuts.

Windhorst just stated from what he's heard, the Knicks offered Melo the max. This was stated yesterday and just reaffirmed.

Why would you get rid of Taj and Butler.

If we land Melo, him and Rose will score the buckets. If we land Pau with Melo, he will help as well. Everyone else will play defense.

Morey: it's always a challenging situation during free agency. You are always having to recruit players & there might be current players at current positions, might be people with the current numbers. It's unfortunate that it's often hard to handle. Reality is it's standard practice. When we went after Chris Bosh a few years ago,we had him N Luis)Scola's number. When we went after Dwight Howard he had (Pat) Beverley's number. I get the sensitivity & I hate that it creates some hurt feelings.I don't like that, but that's obviously Carmelo Anthony's number, that's the number he wants. Bottomline, if Carmelo comes Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin have to be traded. It's just math. It's not personal.

I was referring to the Bulls, not the Thunder.
