Imagine this city if the Bulls pulled this off.
We'd have Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks all legit contenders for their respective championships and the Cubs and Sox improving.

I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Though we are extremely attractive destination and I feel the only thing that could hold us back is the money part but I'm not saying anything everybody here doesn't already know.
If he goes back to the knicks it is only because of money because he has almost no chance of hoping for a championship there. Your only hope is to HOPEFULLY get a star player in 2015? what guarantee is that exactly? that you get anyone? Even then, would it be enough? Rookie head coach who literally has zero experience coaching. There is nothing attractive about the knicks from a standpoint of wanting to win but yes they can give him money. If that is what he wants he is going back.
Meanwhile Bulls offer a great head coach, a winning culture, a weak east and IMO we become a great destination for any ring chasers like Pau Gasol. This is even if Rose doesn't come back to form, but if he does then WOW. The only thing Carmelo has to lose by coming to Chicago is money which is a valid reason for him. Either way I will hope for the best and cant wait to this is all over.

Whoa, pump the brakes bulls fans, lets not get ahead of ourselves here.
Pau Gasol is not playing for the MLE. I like Gasol, but its going to take more than a few million dollars to sign him. Unless Garpax has some mind control powers I don't know about.

Also said that said friend is a Knicks fan and is worried and would be really disappointed.

The Bears are not contenders . I don't see them beating the Seahawks or 49ers . They are the two best two teams in the NFC

If this is some sort of tandem deal that is only possible if Melo and Pau come in and Booz and Taj leave, OK, I can deal with that. But at this point in time, Taj is a better player than Pau going forward. I'd rather keep Taj.

They made some great moves on the defensive side of the ball. Their offense was top 3 in football. They are definitely contenders, especially with the crapshoot the NFL playoffs can be.

Mirotic

I think Calderon would ultimately be a decent package for a team like Orlando ( Calderon's shooting balancing out Oladipo and Payton as well as providing a steady vet presence
Building through the draft and setting up for Cap Space
I think this is the reality for a team like the Knicks ...going hard after 2nd tier free agency talent and trading away draft picks as they have in the past just hasn't worked out
Its hard because NY is an unforgiving place and has its demands , however , they are a franchise - just like the Lakers where the old rules ( I don't believe ) will apply anymore
They're back in the pack with everyone else and needing to be patient and build smartly through the draft and then see if you can strike it lucky with a great core that a Top 10 talent(s) may want to join in free agency
That is an awful nucleus. Awful

Voice of reason here. This makes Adam Silver happy though.
