Man, that Waiters trade sounds real good right about now. Butler for Waiters straight up. I'd even throw in a second or two.

Stephenson
Hayward
Melo
Gibson
Noah
That would be an interesting squad although you guys are about to kill me for saying that lol.
trade rose ideas have been happening on this board, but mostly we come to the realization that until he can prove that hes healthy, noone is going to touch his contract (or atleast let us have 50c to the dollar) but if he is healthy, then there is no point for us to trade him
Technically, Hayward for Rose is less than 50 cents on the dollar, regardless of the pick.

well that's what's out there. vc had a good season last yr. still shot 39% from 3 last yr. still makes clutch shots down the stretch of games. he also surprisingly defended his position well.
stuckey is the best slasher available outside of lance. he also has experience running the point in a pinch. with the m&m bros, shooting is less of a need. at his cost, i'd rather have him over lance.

I would like Stuckey but not as a starter. He is the perfect combo guard to play a few minutes with Derrick. The Bulls need two to three non-PG type creators in the top 10-12 of the rotation.
There is a lot more complexity in the sets Thibs can run if he has two playmakers on the court at the same time instead of just Derrick or his backup all the time.

The question should be whats is the best wing can the Bulls get, since Butler can hold down either spot equally well.
I do not think there is any chance that any of the higher level restricted guys, Parsons, Hayward, do not get matched. That leaves unrestricted FA, and players available by trade.
Dunleavy and the non-guaranteed guys can bring back up to $11.2M in trade, so that is probably the top of the range. A trade is preferred to keep the exemptions, and Hinrich's Bird rights.
Deng looks like the best of the unrestricted FA bunch, and I could see Cle taking that package, if Deng picked the Bulls. I would have some interest in Jefferson, Carter, and Pierce, but only on short-term smaller deals, but would not include Dunleavy to acquire them, since for the contract I would offer would not require his salary, and would not considered them starters.
I might put in a call to NO about Rivers, since they need to dump him for Asik cap space, but only for an end of the bench value play.
I have no interest in Stephenson, Marion, Waiters, or most of the other suggested wings though.

This. He's a little crazy, but truthfully he would have this team looking real legit.

Three names that may be available in trade talks: Ross, Mclemore, burks. Waiters
Ross and derozan are both sg and they might be willing to move ross.
Sacramento just drafted stauskas after taking ben last year. I think they are moving one of the two for a pg.
This two are more of the three and d type so iwould not give much for them.
Burks has shown that he can be a player but utah has hayward, exum burkes and hood so they may be willing to move him.
Cleveland thinks of wiggins as a two so for the right price waiters is gone.
My preference goes to burks but he is probably the more costly to obtain.

I disagree to some extent, mostek. Whatever wing we get needs to be able to defend shooting guards. Butler's full value is realized when he is able to guard the opposing team's best wing (LeBron, Durant, etc). This is part of the reason I don't love the McDermott signing. Against a team with a top small forward, how much can we play Dougie? He certainly can't be asked to guard shooting guards.

Whether Butler starts at 2, or 3, he is going to be guarding the better offensive wing, which is not always, or even usually the SF, just like Hinrich guarded the better offensive guard, when Gordon was here, and when he played alongside Rose. If there are two offensively gifted wings, like Miami, then it is going to be tough, if you have McDermott, at SF, or a guy, like Waiters, at SG. That is why all the suggestions, in my post are at least passable defensive players.

Re: After Melodrama, who's the best shooting guard we can ge
What sucks about the Melodrama is that we lost an opportunity to trade for Afflalo, who is likely the best fit at SG and was available at a good price. We probably could have sent Dunleavy, unguarantees and one of the 1st round picks, and we'd still have enough money to grab a really good role player for about 5 mil, on top of giving Mirotic 5 mil. Our team would look like..
Rose/D.J
Afflalo/Hinrich
Butler/Vince Carter or PP?/Snell/James Young or Rodney Hood
Taj/Mirotic
Noah/Smith/Bairstow
Now every wing player available is likely to going to cost a lot whether in money or assets on top of putting a chunk of the eggs in the Doug McDermott basket.

Thanks man. But if you think Butler is some kind of superior player to Waiters, then check please. Players of similar caliber, one is a far better fit.

SCrew it, someone call up steve francis.

At one point in my life, I was convinced Saer Sene was going to be our teams savior.

I am on board with any of:
Lance
Waiters
Stuckey
In that order. That said, I want Ariza. I think having Butler, Ariza, MJD, Snell, Kirk and McDermott as wing options would be nice. Especially if we bring Mirotic over.

Honestly, If the Bulls miss out on Melo, is this the worst trade we could make? I mean we get a shooting guard, or even a back up shooting guard to reduce the amount of minutes he has to play. Were going to be paying Boozer next year anyways. So you're not big players in free agency next year, who's going to be available that you really want to spend the money on? Maybe Love? I think the trade wouldnt be all that bad either.
