Re: Melo 17: Death or Glory
They didn't havea healthy Nash or Metta or Pau.
Nash broke his leg, they went 500 without him, proceeded to go 5-13 when he returned and tired to run the o. Then Kobe took over ball handling. Lakers in the final 41 games had the second best record of all 30 teams. They were playing better ball than almost anyone before Kobe went down.
Metta got hurt and had knee surgery, came back ala Brandon Roy before he should have which is why he flamed out last year too. Pau missed a fourth of the year. Howard missed 15'games. Jamison tore the ligaments in the wrist of his shooting hand. Blake missed half the year. And again in the second half they finished better than 28 other teams despite Dwight posting some of the worst post up numbers in franchise lore

We've done it, we have reached the level of "Lebron filing taxes in IL" level of madness here.
I think it was a deed to a home or something. But yeah, we have.

That Lakers team with Melo on a max contract is still so old and bad...Lala has to play the PG to give it some athleticism. I don't know if Phil believes that leverage from Melo...he has had a close view of how old and bad Gasol, Nash and Kobe were 2 years back.

These are contract attorney's for a sports star , they work whenever they're needed.

Melo needs another team for leverage to assure S&T
He not only has to tell NY it's ova, just not into you anymore. He also has to make them believe he prefers multiple locations over them.
Okay now explain it to us if we were 5 years old
Carmelo wants to eat ice cream (go to Chicago) but his favorite flavor (max contract) is Chocolate. His dad (the Knicks) want to give him a lot of chocolate cake instead (a max deal in NY). Carmelo doesn't want cake at all but he also wants a lot of ice cream so he needs a ride to the store instead of walking (S&T over cap space), so he's saying either he'll walk out and go eat brownies (go to the Lakers) OR you can give him a ride to get ice cream and then Dad will get a few Skittles (picks, young players) too.
But what about Lance Stephenson damn it?!

Chicago doesn't exactly strike me as some tortuous place to live. Yeah, it's not New York or LA, but it's still a big city and plenty of stars live there.
Denver is pretty awesome.

1. Bulls don't even have the space to sign him even if he did want to come. They have to make moves in addition to amnestying Boozer which can't even happen until mid-week, at the earliest
2. His attorneys would lay the ground work over the phone and then seal the deal in person. They wouldn't negotiate in person before the Bulls even knew how much money they'd have to work with.
3. Even completely ignoring 1 & 2, the league is still shut down for the moratorium period so deal isn't being signed tomorrow, the next day, or the day after anyways.

Re: Melo 17: Death or Glory
These tides are so funny.
Last time I read the board, like yesterday, it was all doom and gloom, certainty that Melo was staying in NY.
Now it seems everybody's excited and feeling almost confident in his coming to the Bulls.

Lawyers work 7 days a week.
Especially when your client is worth tens of millions of dollars. I doubt partners are there but I doubt that office just closes for the weekend.

No, the Knicks could actually salvage something out of this via S&T. If Melo says its between the Lakers and Bulls, the Knicks would want him to go to the Bulls via S&T so they can get some picks, mirotic, etc.
Mirotic has asked for assurance he will not be traded this off-season before he commits to coming over.

You didn't actually refute anything he said. I'm pretty sure we're all well aware of the moratorium. All we're waiting for is Melo.
