Chicago doesn't exactly strike me as some tortuous place to live. Yeah, it's not New York or LA, but it's still a big city and plenty of stars live there.

Denver is pretty awesome.

Weed is legal there now. I'm surprised NBA players aren't flocking to Denver.

No, the Knicks could actually salvage something out of this via S&T. If Melo says its between the Lakers and Bulls, the Knicks would want him to go to the Bulls via S&T so they can get some picks, mirotic, etc.

Mirotic has asked for assurance he will not be traded this off-season before he commits to coming over.

Garpax says "sure" wink-wink.

Nash broke his leg, they went 500 without him, proceeded to go 5-13 when he returned and tired to run the o. Then Kobe took over ball handling. Lakers in the final 41 games had the second best record of all 30 teams. They were playing better ball than almost anyone before Kobe went down.

Metta got hurt and had knee surgery, came back ala Brandon Roy before he should have which is why he flamed out last year too. Pau missed a fourth of the year. Howard missed 15'games. Jamison tore the ligaments in the wrist of his shooting hand. Blake missed half the year. And again in the second half they finished better than 28 other teams despite Dwight posting some of the worst post up numbers in franchise lore

And the team is even more geriatric now.

And more injured. And terrible.

None of us care about why the 2012-13 Lakers flamed out.

Last time I read the board, like yesterday, it was all doom and gloom, certainty that Melo was staying in NY.

Now it seems everybody's excited and feeling almost confident in his coming to the Bulls.

Lala is a LA, NY type of girl. Not a Chi type. Don't be naive to think she isn't persuading Melo's decision.

I'm sure she can say ok that she'll sacrifice a few years so her baby has a chance to get a ring and then they move back after. Its not like she cant just on a plane on the weekends or whenever. I'm starting to think its not as big of a factor as the money.

Damn, I go away for a bit and have an hour of catching up to do reading all the posts. It's funny seeing the emotion swing so much. Hopefully GarPax can pull this off.

Woj

One thing that still bothers Anthony is Jackson had wanted him to take less than a max contract, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Some of the attitudes i see here go to great lengths to explain our divorce rate. Being a wife is not about being "cool". Its about being a wife. When you marry, your family should trump all. People don't live to work. They work to live.

Yes, and people don't live to be a slave to someone else. A relationship is about mutual commitment and understanding, not a one-way relationship where you lay down everything for your wife while she steps all over you. Being in an unhappy relationship where you (not you specifically) put your wife first and your wife puts herself first also explains the divorce rate. If Carmelo decides to go to Chicago, is it about a paycheck or about something more important to him?

On the other hand, having a "cool" wife that cares as much about you as you care about her, and is willing to compromise for the mutual good of the relationship, is awesome for staying married. Mine wouldn't even think twice about finding a way to make this work and since neither of us believes in divorce, we don't have any need to hang that possibility over each others' head.

This is a straw man and a false dichotomy. One that isn't worth more than the three sentences I'm giving it. You arebaguing against a phantom despite having quoted my post entirely out of context, but believe what you will.

It doesn't work like that. I'm sure he knows the possibility of being shipped to New York and doesn't want to play for a loser with no turnaround in sight. He won't sign until the Melo situation is resolved either way. He obviously get paid well in Europe considering his buyout so it's not like he desperately needs the money.

Bluewaterheaven wrote:Hey guys. So I just want to give you a piece of info I just heard. Last year I interned at Steptoe Johnson, a very large global law firm. I still keep up with some people there. A few of the senior partners are season ticket holders, and also do a lot of work with InCapital, which is owned by Tom Rickett, the Cubs owner. Anyway, word is, in the office, Melo's attorney's are heading into Chicago tomorrow. That is all I got.

1. Bulls don't even have the space to sign him even if he did want to come. They have to make moves in addition to amnestying Boozer which can't even happen until mid-week, at the earliest

2. His attorneys would lay the ground work over the phone and then seal the deal in person. They would negotiate in person before the Bulls even knew how much money they'd have to work with.

3. Even completely ignoring 1 & 2, the league is still shut down for the moratorium period so deal isn't being signed tomorrow, the next day, or the day after anyways.

Image

You didn't actually refute anything he said. I'm pretty sure we're all well aware of the moratorium. All we're waiting for is Melo.

$1500 an hour attorneys aren't going to waste time by flying in days in advance and wait for the moratorium to pass.
