Chicago doesn't exactly strike me as some tortuous place to live. Yeah, it's not New York or LA, but it's still a big city and plenty of stars live there.

Denver is pretty awesome.

Weed is legal there now. I'm surprised NBA players aren't flocking to Denver.

I mean, it's still illegal in the NBA though
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

edit 7/30/21: okay maybe not, but it was a fun ride nonetheless

For all the sorry saps like me who haven't read hundreds of these pages, here are some notable quotes from the last few hours

Bluewaterheaven wrote:Hey guys. So I just want to give you a piece of info I just heard. Last year I interned at Steptoe Johnson, a very large global law firm. I still keep up with some people there. A few of the senior partners are season ticket holders, and also do a lot of work with InCapital, which is owned by Tom Rickett, the Cubs owner. Anyway, word is, in the office, Melo's attorney's are heading into Chicago tomorrow. That is all I got.

and from Ralph
The Bulls have given Melo two options. One with Gibson and one without Gibson and Melo getting the max. Also the Gasol stuff is linked to this. I can't get into specifics but the Bulls could land Melo at 22mil, Gasol at 8mil and still have the MLE for Nikola.

You can thank me later for scrolling through 50 pages of melo 16 thread for the Ralph quote, since non of these SOB's would provide a quote or link.

How awesome would it be if Phil Jackson got played by his 2 former teams. All that #inphilwetrust nonsense would finally stop

You'd be surprised. I have first hand knowledge that some women will turn away even NBA superstars, regardless of the money.

Melo's lawyers don't care about the NBA rules, they'd be doing whatever they need to for Anthony.

I tend to believe that this isn't connected to him picking Chicago but rather just procedural stuff Anthony needs done.

With other teams. He wasn't going to go back to NY without a max.

This seems to be more of an issue of respect. Phil was asking Melo to take less for the theoretical idea of a free agent coming a year from now and the hope of being a contender. Why should Melo have to take less in that situation?

Jackson disrespected him with that suggestion. I'm only half joking.

Not only asking him to take less - but he went public with it.

After all they had to give up in the Denver trade, if he left now and they got screwed again in a S&T, I can't imagine how Knicks fans would feel about him.

Melo's going to **** [have sexual intercourse with] NY til they love him.

That's why I think Phil wanted Carmelo to opt-in.
