Godgers wrote:I am reading people want to give Bledsoe a contract like Michael Redd. Redd was love by everyone until he became max Redd and even though Redd was a good player it hurt the team because of his contract.
Redd got more than the regular max. He got the super max.
And people may have been fine with the deal if not for the injuries and if he was surrounded by a supporting cast who could win a lot of games, like this one may w/ Parker, Giannis, and Sanders. In their prime that core may win 50 games by itself and with solid role players.
So it's an apples and oranges situation.

I'm on board for another top five pick and saving the money for a run at a loaded crop of free agent point guards next summer.

Save your money and leave the team as it is. I just don't see the point of investing $12 mil+ in a guy while the rest of the team is still a couple of years away from hitting it's stride. The timing just doesn't make sense.

I'm all for bringing in Bledsoe. Max deals aren't what they used to be and Bledsoe fits this team beautifully, especially if we can land someone like Daniels as well.

Re: Bucks looking at Lin, Bledsoe and Vasquez
The roster as is could sniff 30-35 wins with a season of FTD level luck. Like every possible question mark hitting at 90-95% of it's potential. Everyone assumes that:
Ersan returns to peak form
Sanders returns to peak form
Jabari is winning us games at 19
Giannis is a consistent high impact player at 19
Kidd is a competent coach in his 2nd year
I think its much more likely that Ersan and Larry aren't nearly as good as some thought. That Giannis and Jabari aren't Lebron level superstars and are going to struggle a lot. That Kidd doesn't really know what he's doing (yet).
And people are saying well just a year ago everyone thought we would be winning 30 games like that holds more weight than what actually happened last year.
No to Bledsoe. Get another top pick. Reasses next year.
Acting like Bledsoe is our only shot is silly.

Re: Bucks looking at Lin, Bledsoe and Vasquez
Last offseason, not acquiring Bledsoe was the tipping point for a lot of us.
This offseason, I'll pass. Giannis and Parker will be 22 when Bledsoe turns 28. Giving him the max would leave me feeling like I just got assaulted. Rather just stay on course and focus on drafting a PG/acquiring a PG next offseason. Also would like to see what Wolters can do running the offense for the whole year.

^ My thoughts exactly. I think people are just excited, and they want to add another exciting young guy in Bledsoe right away. I would definitely pass at the max. I would also like to see Wolters with 1 year running the team with Kidd's assistance.

The key years that we should be building around start with like the 2018 season and ahead. I would be surprised if by then we do not have a better option than a close to 30 PG who likely doesn't age well since he relies heavily on athleticism.
Bledsoe will be 28-29 before our core is even approaching it's prime. At that point, either we continue paying huge money to a PG on the decline or we get rid of him meaning he was of no long term value to us.
Almost every move should be looked at in regards to how it will help our core in 2018 and beyond.

Re: Bucks looking at Lin, Bledsoe and Vasquez
The problem we have is that the whole fing league is on hold until LeBron decides what he's going to do.
Bledsoe and his $6mm cap hold will sit with Phoenix until such time LeBron makes a decision. What would shake it up is if we offered the 4/$64 deal and Bledsoe actually signed it. That would put a $16mm cap hold on PHX and they would have three days to match it. It would screw up their LeBron dreams, although the Suns fans assume Bledsoe would never sign that offer sheet until LeBron made up his mind.

I mentioned the same thing earlier. I'd give him 4 years 12-15 million. Make Houston match

Speaking of overpaying. That is an insane deal for him. I'm not sure how much he'll get above the min.

Spot on. Adding Bledsoe to a 25 year old Parker/Giannis would be great. Pairing him with two 19 year olds is a waste. Its why I also don't get how Sanders factors into the core of this team. When GA/JP is ready to compete we're going to be excited about having a 30 year old center who relies on his athleticism? Yeah no.
Go Bucks!

Goran Dragic (likely opt out), Tony Parker, Ricky Rubio (restricted), Patrick Beverly, Reggie Jackson (restricted). At least a couple of those guys figure to be on the move.

Re: Bucks looking at Lin, Bledsoe and Vasquez
This whole PG thing is pretty critical IMO to what we do. A decent PG, even Lin, probably gives us 5 wins we don't need, assuming we wanted to tank. That's why I can roll with Bledsoe. If Kidd is insisting on upgrading the PG position, might as well try for the best option, both short and long term.

28 years old is likely your physical prime as an athlete. Exactly how is having a 28 year old Eric Bledsoe a bad thing?

Apparently Indiana is shopping Hibbert. If Hammond was willing to trade for an injured Brook Lopez, Im terrified that Hibbert is someone they'd be interested in. Please no.

Re: Bucks looking at Lin, Bledsoe and Vasquez
Parker is an old 19yr old. Everyone knows hes going to contribute right away. I have no doubt that he will be our top scorer this season. Bledsoe is the key to everything. This isn't a go for the 8th seed move. This is build young and see what happens. Bledsoe or "mini LeBron" is the right choice for this team. Like I stated earlier. This team right now is the blazers pre lillard.

Re: Bucks looking at Lin, Bledsoe and Vasquez
PP- LeBron and Bledsoe have the same agent and the remote shot that LeBron would go to Phoenix would be in part to play with his buddy Bledsoe. So if Bledsoe signs an offer sheet it would be a sure sign the LeBron dream is over and at that point the suns would just match. After LeBron is gone the suns won't be worried about saving cap space since there's no good alternative player to sign if they let Bledsoe walk.
