what the. how the.

He was probably mad that he wasn't able to play in summer league and he released his anger during that game. LOL

Wow.

First time I have had a chance to see his game from yesterday....much more skilled passing the ball than I thought he was. This guy is going to be a heck of a player. I can't believe how disruptive he is and to me, his offensive game doesn't look bad at all and will only get better.

I drool when I think about the prospect of having both Embiid and Noel in our front court!

Aside from Noel, who was brilliant. I really thought Craft brought something defensively to the team. If he can develop a three point shot, he could play in the NBA.

If Noel sits today, then we had better see a lot of grant and KJ.

I hate that Jackson went down. Hopefully he will be back next year.

Marion has just always been a sneaky offensive player. Watching him you'd think he'd average 6 ppg and he pretty much does now a days but at one point he was a 20+ ppg scorer during his Phoenix years. I'm not comparing Noel to Marion but I think Noels points will come the same way Marions used to come for him. He'll never take over a game or carry the team on offense and it will seem like he never hits an open shot, but by then end of the night he's got 18-19 points and you are like "how the hell did he do that"?

Agree. He just need to tighten his handle, no need for the advanced ball handling skills. Just solid ball handling ala derek fisher. Then just be a great shooter to space out the floor.

Just wondering..

How do you guys think of Elfrid Payton?

He looks like a role player PG to me. Reminds me of a bigger version of Eric Maynors.

What edge does he have at the PG position aside from his size? He doesn't have tight handles, great perimeter shooting or explosive athleticism. He's like a less skilled version of Evan Turner. You can say all you want about how he was passive the entire game. But man.. he even looked like he had a hard time bringing down the ball even against Casper Ware. Did the defensive nightmare of Aaron Craft at the perimeter and Nerlens Noel's block party potential in the interior limit his game?

I'm judging this one just one game of summer league game so take it with a grain of salt.

^ Not a fan of Elfrid Payton, to me he's a tough sell. I knew we would be trading him when we drafted him.

Yeah, I mean, I don't think Payton will ever be more than a bottom 1/3 PG in the league. He does some things well. He's a great rebounder, good distributor, good defender with quick hands. He will have to tighten up his handles quickly because without a jumpshot, he'll have to be able to get into the lane to be effective offensively. I don't think the Magic were shooting for the moon with this addition. They just want a guy to stabilize the position and help enhance the talent they already have in place.

I think Payton has potential, but I'm just not a fan of guys that can't shoot at all, as I've stated on here many times over. MCW isn't a great shooter, but as mediocre as MCW's shot is, Payton's is a lot worse. In the NBA defensive teams are great and all, but you gotta be able to put the ball in the net. Not sure Payton will be able to do it consistently at the NBA level without a jumper. Can't just drive all the time.

Every rookie PG looks terrible in his 1st summer league game. They can't get used to the physicality in one game. They go from almost no contact allowed in the NCAA, to playing against men who are playing for food (and know they have more than 6 fouls to play with).

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

I'd wait until he hits the NBA before making a decision about his future....and even then.

The PG position is super hard to learn and it can take some guys a few seasons to pick it up. Now the greats basically get it from day one, Payton probably won't be in that class but I think he can be a solid starter, which I think all Orlando wants.

It is very similar to how MCW looked against Beverly trying to eat his soul last SL. It just isn't a great venue to show what you are for PGs. No one will press all game. There will be better options to play off of and more.

I will say this tho..he looked legit shook in that game which is more worrysome than his stats. MCW got bodied by Beverly but he never backed down.

The way Hinkie is looking at Noel probably something like " He thinks he's going to play 60 games this year" muuahhhhhhhh.

I'm totally with you on that. I guess the whole "big time guard from a small school" hype hurt him since now people think he's going to be some sort of damian lillard-like type of player. But Idk, just didn't see the fire, nor did I like his decision making. I don't think he's a terrible player, just didn't stand out as the 10th overall pick in "one of the strongest draft classes ever".

I don't think he is a bad prospect, but the magic fans are seriously overrating him on their board. Obviously summer league means very little, but I'm not very confident he'll be much more than an average starting pg in his prime.

Watching Noel was awesome, bit of a letdown he didn't play against okc but he looked better than I thought he would. Such an athlete and defender, it's going to be awesome when we get Embiid back. Best frontcourt in the league right there.
