I really like the report of Melo wanting a no trade clause from NY...It's gotta make NY question their position and if they really want this.

Frightening. Hope Melo isn't waiting on Bosh. But he could be!

From the other thread.

Money aside, he doesn't have to wait for anyone. Wherever these guys end up, with him on the Bulls, we would have enough to counter.

All the more reason for Phil to agree to the S&T with Pax. C'mon Phil- pull the trigger so I can get some work done!

Why would Phil be motivated to a sign and trade with us when he can also do that with the Lakers? If all that we are willing to offer, as some fans here wish, is future compensation in the forms of future draft picks, it will not get done. The Lakers can also offer future draft picks, which are expected to be higher pick since they are in the much tougher Western Conference. Besides, I am pretty sure Phil would rather see Melo go out west to the Lakers to work for his girlfriend, Jeannie Buss, than to see him come to us.

The urge to ask this comes purely from our point of view, not his. All these millions upon millions of page clicks could be resulting in him cashing in somehow. Whose to say he hasnt told Yahoo!Sports ...give me 10% of your ad revenue til Thursday. And I'll announce Thursday, give you the exclusive.

Agree, and if you know anything about business, you know that options hold value. We are dying for a decision because we're bored and want finality here. Melo is making a decision for the next 4+ years of his life, so he kind of has the right to take as long as he wants. Any good businessperson would hold his options as long as possible (ie see where LBJ and Bosh go) before playing his cards... unless he thought that his options would be reduced by waiting. LAL, CHI and NYK are not making any moves that will limit Melo's options, so he has no cost to waiting and can only benefit.

I don't think there was ever clarification on whether or not it needed to be 4 full seasons or just 4 years. He has been in NY for 4 years now.

For NBA fans, what's the most fun free agency outcome? Isn't it LeBron to Cavs, Melo to Bulls and Bosh to Houston? That's an NBA earthquake.

...and all is right in the world.

That would be so good for the league.

Because something is better than nothing. If we offered up two picks for Melo - you think Phil would rather send him to the Lakers?

The Lakers have absolutely no reason to do a S&T. They can easily sign him outright - why would they part with picks?

Bosh isn't much of a post presence anyway. Either Melo or Lebron could play it. The heat have been great at going small. Not sure going small would be my answer to San Antonio but hey what the hell.

Both Melo and LeBron could play in the post periodically, but for an entire 82+ season? Heck no. LeBron was so tired and fatigued after banging down low with David West in a single playoff series.

That's why I don't see LeBron and Melo joining forces... LeBron doesn't want to guard bigs for an entire season and Melo physically can't.

Theres two of them so neither would have to do it all game. I assume if they do team up there would still be a 4 and a 5 or two on the roster. Either way its not optimal but according to sources they are considering it. Do I think its a great fit? No, but they may.

He did say that. And that's with the current Bulls roster but obviously we'd get Lance or someone

Because LA has outright cap space. Why would they give NY anything?
