yet again Hennigan strikes a deal that no one reported on and was not in the media spotlight at all.

Yeah but you still need vets to help bring them along, his contract may look bad but this day in age if we had to trade his 8 mil to clear cap space we could in a couple years.good signing and the first sign that we're not tanking in 3 yrs.

Hennigan believes we have our core young guys. Playoff push inbound I would guess.

Re: Official Speculation Thread Part 1 (Summer League 2014)
After 3 years i think i finally understand Henny's plan.
IF you listen to his pressers you would realize that every move he makes is coming from his stated goals.
1) Get players who want to be here.
2) Get players who play hard working and have good strong characters.
3) Have sustainable success.
Year one Henny brought in young talent with the Dwight trade with Harkless, Vucevic and Afflalo. Drafted Nicholson and O'Quinn. He traded fan favourite for an unknown commodity in Tobias Harris. He then drafted Oladipo. This year he jettisoned Jameer, Afflalo, Big Bay and brought in Fournier and drafted Gordon and Peyton. With those guys gone it allows the young guys to develop leadership ability. The signing of Gordon and Frye gives the team much more shooting while maximizing the talents of the athletic guys who thrive on getting in the paint.
Our team is younger, deeper, and much more talented than any team in recent Magic history. We probably have one more year in the lottery then we'll have a team of young guys who are ready to take the next step. We are also set up for long term success because the loss of one player won't turn the team into a waste land.
I suspect our line up will be:
PG-Oladipo/Peyton
SG-Fournier/Gordon
SF-Harris/Harkless
PF- Frye/Gordon/Nicholson
C-Vucevic/O'Quinn
Gordon will do what Oladipo did last year. He will come off the bench and see time at both Forward spots to see where he fits best.
I finally understand what Henny is doing and it is genius.

Re: Official Speculation Thread Part 1 (Summer League 2014)
I do not see how people on here are saying that by cutting Aaron Afflalo, Jason Maxiell, Jameer Nelson, Doron Lamb, E'Twaun Moore & Ronnie Price and signing Ben Gordon, Evan Forunier, Channing Frye, Elrid Payton & Aaron Gordon is going to change us in to a playoff team. Am I missing some big time player that is going to make us that much better?

Dipo/Payton/Curry
Fournier/B.Gordan/Green
Harris/Harkless/Marble
Frye/Gordon/Osby/Nicholson
Vuc/OQuinn/Dedmond
Let's assume no one gets traded before training camp. Who do you cut or trade from the group above?

Take Los Angeles Clippers players Glen Davis and DeAndre Jordan who have been seen bonding over… cigarettes in Amsterdam. Yup, nothing really says vacation in Amsterdam like kicking back and enjoying a long drag off a cigarette.

I don't see Osby making the team. We're loaded at SF/PF.

It's going to be an interesting year to say the least. Oladipo has to take the next step, which I think he will, for the Magic to even sniff the playoffs.

Re: Official Speculation Thread Part 1 (Summer League 2014)
The Magic can go this way as well.
Oladipo / Payton
Fournier / B. Gordon / Green
A. Gordon / Harris / Harkless
Frye / O'quinn / Nicholson
Vucevic / Dedmon
Better to bring along 1 rookie with the starting line up. Another rookie will be in the second unit. Two shooters in the starting lineup will open up for our robotic center to operate.
