Pretty close after surrounding Melo with all these winners:

Phil Jackson = self-explanatory
Derek Fisher = self-explanatory
Kurt Rambis = self-explanatory
Calderon = Silver Medal
M. Gasol = Silver Medeal
P. Gasol = NBA Champion
Odom = NBA Champion

So apparently we have unlimited cap space? This plan works if Melo takes a paycut. Our discussion revolves around him taking the max with raises.

Paycut= tipping point.

No 2016 draft pick - 'eh, no big deal'.

Okay then.

Lol. Without the paycut, we can't get Marc gasol, and to get pau gasol, Phil has to get creative. People are acting like Pau is here and making the minimum. Awesome times.

This is a lie. The reason RealGM is breaking down is because you're not locking this thread and opening a new one. It's RealGM's equivalent of dividing with zero.

:lol: lies. Threads have gone longer.

Sideshow, Wiggins and one of (Thompson, Bennet, Waiters) for Melo, Smith .... then they can sign LeBron outright.... done and done....

Not completely telling the whole story unless you think Melo is planning on retiring in 4 years if he signs with Chicago.

No but I hope he's planning on being 34 in 4 years. I think he will opt out after 3 if he's playing well and healthy. But a guaranteed contract is insurance and security. Years 4 and 5 will be 55 mil of money in the bank.

So then we'll be the ones getting screwed when he's 34.

KnicksGod wrote:I definitely disagree with the idea that we can't do a traditional rebuild because we lack a 2016 pick. 1 pick is not make or break to that strategy working. If you got the top pick in the draft in 2015 and there's a surefire stud available, you'd be well on your way.

The fact that picks are hard to turn into great players kind of weighs against suicide's argument. 1 pick is not a huge piece of the overall puzzle.

agreed, plus the 2016 pick might not even be that good, depending on how 2015 goes.

Miami hasn't resigned Bosh. They haven't even made him an offer (Bosh agent already said that the Bosh taking $11 million was BS).

That's why I don't get the everyone waiting on Bosh move.

I can only assume that Bosh is waiting for LeBron.

liknicks7 wrote:Why would we be contacting teams to trade Amare to if Melo was leaving? The only possible reason to trade Amare and give up an asset in doing so is to build a team around Melo now. Otherwise, we would just wait until Bargs/Amare come off the books next year and not give up any assets to grab a Pau Gasol or Pau Gasol type this summer.

Ding.

Melo leaving or Stat being traded accomplishes the same thing. Gets Knicks under the apron.

Or combined with Bargini opens up a near-second max space, which is irrelevant if Melo and James is gone.

Unless you think Jackson is making a play at Bosh and/or James without Melo?

People are going to see this through whatever filter they're inclined to.

Pretty much yeah. We're hoping to eke out a title in the first few, and/or get Melo big help by years 3/4/5. Then the contract is fine. Otherwise, it'll be a burden.

Bosh is waiting for Lebron, Melo is waiting for Lebron, Lebron is waiting on Melo and Bosh.

This is never gonna get done!

in theory yes. just the lakers are right now.

however its what you do those first 3-4 years of the contract that would either make the last year work it in the end.

Think I need a time machine at this point. Or at least a nice little coma that lasts until the weekend.
