I'm skeptical about that story personally. If true, that would be attempted murder. Why weren't police charges filed or a multimillion dollar lawsuit for that matter? That story reeks of Birdman/Kobe style slander IMO.
once again, i have no reason to believe that it's true, i've never heard about that before.
but your reasoning is not that good-- these types of things have happened a lot without police interference. there was a lawsuit in colorado a cpl years ago that went to the supreme court, where a victim (or the victim-decedent's family, i think) sued the local police for not enforcing a protective order. stuff like this was going on exactly. it's not uncommon. there is a whole movement to encourage the enforcement of domestic violence laws
Pretty sure that CO couple you are talking about didn't include a multimillionaire and there are a lot of people in the US who are always looking for a reason to sue someone with money. Anyways, Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat (the burden of proof is on he who declares, not on he who denies). Lance is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law by a jury of his peers. This reflexive torch and pitchfork mob reaction to some baseless story on the internet is detrimental to everyone involved. Case in point:

if this was lances only incident it would be one thing but he had attitude problem in college in Cincinnati and has had immaturity incidents in the pros. I think there's a lot we don't know with Lance that front office folks do. Why else would a player of his age and ability not be getting a max deal. Teams are legitimately afraid to give him a big contract.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.
