The list of top free agent point guards minus a few updates:

http://hoopshype.com/free_agency/point_guards_2014.htm

I see at least 5 former Bucks on this. Safe to say there's Bledsoe, and then there's everyone else. Buckpack, do we take a gamble on say Mario Chalmers or Brian Roberts?

I'm only half-joking. What are the rules on that?

When has Jason Kidd ever needed "rules"? :-)
The Bulls are the absolute worst.

Good god I hope not. I wouldn't think we're in such immediate need of a PG that we would take on Chalmers for the hell of it.

I like Brian Roberts as a vet backup.

It's crazy how much I got hated on for saying that Vasquez current value given the market was $6-$7 million. Then he gets signed by Masai, who is widely considered to be one of the best GMs in the league, for $6.5 million. Keep on hating and I'll just keep on being right!

It's Bledsoe or tank PG for me at this point.

How fitting that a thread that starts with the promise of Bledsoe or Lin-and-a-pick ends up with Brian Roberts.

Didn't see what you said before but I would not be happy if we had given him 6.5mil/year

He was worth that to a team who had home court advantage in the playoffs on a 2 year contract. It would have been an atrocious contract for us. You were as right as 4 assist Drew Gooden.

I think the issue is who exactly is making the outbound "deal calls" on behalf of the Bucks.

If Kidd, Lasry and Edens want a certain player, they really need to wheel and deal themselves to get it done. Hammond isn't skilled enough to make things like that happen. As we've discussed, he's really only burned Dumars on the Jennings trade. That's it over six-years.

We killed Sacramento trading them Salmons for 7 and beno udrih but we
Made it a 3 team deal to get the ultimate teammate in order to dump maggette so I can understand if that doesn't count.

No, because I conceded right away the point that Vasquez wouldn't have been a perfect fit for our team given our current state. The rest of the argument was about his market value and that link I provided that you personally trashed me for. Let's not remake history here.

Also, if the only time that anyone can come up with me being seriously off over 12 years of posting is my stance on Drew Gooden for about 6 months, I think I'll take it.

I really hope the Bucks do not make a move this offseason.

I still have the feeling that another year with a top 4 pick is needed.

If we want to build our future with Giannis, Sanders and Parker, Emmanuel Mudiay can be the player we lack to elevate to another level.

Of the three, I was only worried we would get Vazquez. Glad to see he's off the market (especially at 6.5m per... for a glorified back-up.)

I don't see why we wouldn't take on Lin. Fills a need and we would get an asset in return. Oh well.

I'd do max on Bledsoe. As a small market team, you have to take chances on young, high potential free agents. We aren't going to get a prime elite player to come here via free agency, obviously... so we gotta hope we can get a guy who already has significant value and is likely to take a leap. IMO, the equivalent is the Braun/Longoria/Tulo contracts in baseball. They may not necessarily be worth those contracts at first, but you gotta take those risks that they will be worth it. Phoenix would match it though (especially after striking out so far in FA), so I guess it's moot.

I'm fine with rolling our current roster out. Let's pump up Ersan's value and ship him out for some assets and hopefully we'll get something rolling in 2-3 years.

 You said, and I quote, "6-7 million for 3 years would be great value for Vasquez". A much better team, who likely paid the most money available on the market just to keep him, got him on that contract for less years. That's average at best value for a good team and would of been one of the worst contracts dished out this offseason for a team like ours. A good team overpaying to keep a backup on a good team is completely different market value than a team signing that guy coming off 15 wins. We paid Drew Gooden 36 million dollars, does that mean that was his market value?

In the 'All Access: Jabari Parker 2014 Draft' video, Morway gives Hammond a celebratory pat on the behind with a Legal Pad. After whiffing on Lin, Bledsoe (likely), and Vasquez, I don't think John gets a 2nd.

After initially wanting to take advantage of Houston or shoot for the stars and overpay Bledsoe, I'm definitely content to just roll with what we got and save the spending for another off season. Definitely hoping for a ROY for Jabari and MIP for Giannis while we lose about 60 games. Emmanuel Mudiay 2015. He's got my preliminary vote. Also, I don't believe he will be a PG but a hell of a 6'5" SG/Combo guard.
